First Roblox, then Fortnite, now someone has reimagined Squid Game's Red Light, Green Light as a PS1 game.

Every now and again, a TV show will appear as if from nowhere and take the world by storm. It happened in 2020 when Netflix unleashed Tiger King, although the wild docuseries had the fact most of us were plunged into lockdown with nothing to do on its side. Squid Game has become the Netflix hit of 2021, and it didn't even have a planet filled with housebound subscribers to boost its numbers.

Squid Game has already been watched by so many people that it is reportedly on course to become Netflix's most-watched show ever. It also continues to inspire a number of spin-offs in the video game world. Most notably Red Light, Green Light, the childhood game that acts as the focus of Squid Game's first episode.

Red Light, Green Light found its way into Roblox, has been recreated using Fortnite's Creative Mode, and has now been reimagined as a PS1 game. The creation comes courtesy of developer Dominik Johann and you can check out a glimpse of it in action via the short clip below. It includes two of Squid Game's guards, the terrifying doll that oversees Red Light, Green Light, and the contestants attempting to try and make it past her safely.

The aim of the game is to stop when the doll says red light and turns her head, and move forward when she says green light and looks away. If the doll catches you moving, then you are shot and killed. Well, in the PS1 homage to the game, you are shot and you explode, which is actually a little less harrowing but that's probably down to the crude graphics.

All nine episodes of Squid Game are streaming now on Netflix, but odds are if you're reading this then you already knew that and have binge-watched the entire thing. Demand for the show has been so high that one broadband provider has struggled to cope and is suing Netflix for the added strain. They'll be hoping there isn't a season two, but considering season one's popularity, that seems almost inevitable.
