Netflix's new show Squid Game is such a hit that replicas of some of its games are popping up in Roblox, and they're proving to be very popular.

It's often pretty predictable when a Netflix show is going to perform well. The budgets and drive behind shows like Stranger Things and The Witcher mean they were always going to be watched by millions. However, every now and again something drops on the service out of the blue and captures everyone's attention. Last year it was Tiger King, and 18 months later Squid Game is doing the same thing.

As a matter of fact, Squid Game appears to have already gone a few steps further than Tiger King, and almost any other Netflix show. It is already the most Netflix show in the US and is well on the way to breaking the service's worldwide record. The battle-royale-inspired game has become so popular that people are already recreating elements of it in Roblox.

While a few Squid Game clones can be found in Roblox right now, as highlighted by Polygon, the most popular is a game called Red Light, Green Light. For those unfamiliar with the game, it is one originally designed for children where you have to stay completely still when the leader says red light, and then try to move closer to them when they say green light.

As it does with other famous children's games throughout the first season, Squid Game adds an extreme element to Red Light, Green Light. If someone is caught moving after the creepy doll says red light, they are shot dead. That terrifying element of the game is brought to the Roblox version. In fact, as you can see in the clip above, everything from the uniforms the participants are wearing to the faux landscape in which the game takes place has been painstakingly recreated.

Even though Roblox is a game largely geared towards children, its homage to Squid Game's Red Light, Green Light has already attracted almost 30 million players. Since Squid Game continues to garner more attention and is watched by people all over the world, it's likely Roblox's clones will keep popping up and be played by more and more people as time goes on.
