Black Desert Online is hosting its annual Halloween event starting today on PC, and tomorrow on consoles. This year's theme is "spooky steampunk," with a new area that's all decked out like a crazy mad scientist's playground.

It's also got a brand new mini-event based on Netflix's Squid Game. Red Light, Green Light is the children's game that features heavily in the show's plot and also introduces the characters to the life-or-death stakes of the show. In Black Desert Online, it's a little less high-stakes, but failure will still result in death--it just won't be your death.

You can play the Red Light, Green Light minigame in the new Marni's Spooky Playground area from now until November 10. There's a new game every 10 minutes, so you won't have to wait too long if you miss it. Just talk to NPC Rubin to sign up.

Besides getting a bunch of event items and EXP just for exploring the Spooky Playground, there's a number of other minigames to enjoy and acquire free loot. But if you want the least amount of effort for the most amount of stuff, just look for the free Special Gift Pack that Pearl Abyss is giving away. Valued at $35, the gift contains EXP boosters, an inventory booster, a 7-day Blessing of Kamasylve, and more.

You can get the Special Gift Pack either on Steam or the Black Desert website if you're on PC, or on the PlayStation or Microsoft storefronts if you're on console. There’s a ton of other stuff going on too, so read up on the full event details on the Black Desert website.
