Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be getting a physical release, publisher Koch Media announced. At the same time, it was revealed the franchise’s total sales have exceeded 15 million copies sold worldwide.

GSC Game World and Koch Media partner up to give Stalker 2 global publishing on physical media in 2022. As stated by the director of global partner publishing Stephan Schmidt the company is “more than thrilled to set the stage for a global physical market entry for Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl” after the game’s great presentation at E3 Xbox Showcase.

Koch Media already worked with the Stalker 2 dev in 2008, publishing Stalker: Clear Sky in several countries. Now, the company will be collaborating with the Ukrainian studio once again to “successfully release the next chapter of the award-winning Stalker franchise” across the globe.

GSC Game World CEO Evgeniy Grygorovych added the developers trust their game “is now in capable hands.” The team will prepare several physical editions of the game for the players, so everyone can find the best value for themselves. At the moment, four editions of Stalker 2 are up for grabs, each with its own image on the cover — Standard, Limited, Collector’s, and Ultimate edition. All of them are available for both PC and Xbox Series X|S.

It was also revealed today that the series reached over 15 million copies sold worldwide. Those include three video games — Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat, released over the 2007-2009 period. Now, fans eagerly anticipate the full-fledged sequel, slated for release on 28 April 2022.

Earlier the devs confirmed Stalker 2 is running on Unreal Engine 5 and is skipping out on PS4 and Xbox One. Given all that, the fans may expect some of the best-looking visuals in the industry when the game arrives. With a development team of over 300 people, the post-apocalyptic shooter is expected to be not only a looker but content-packed, offering a much bigger open-world environment than its predecessors.

Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will launch as a timed exclusive on PC and Xbox Series X|S before arriving on other platforms. The game will be available via Game Pass on day one.
