In a recent tweet from EA Star Wars, a massive new update for Star Wars: Battlefront II was announced that will include a new planet, a new character, and new game modes. The update will include some great new content from the Clone Wars era of the series, and will serve as yet another way in which DICE hopes to improve the overall game.

First, a brand new planet from the Clone Wars era, Felucia, will be coming to the game this week. The planet will be host to a giant battle between the Republic's clone army and the Separatist droid forces. The swamp-like planet, which first appeared in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and later on in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, will feature beautiful plant life and environmental dangers, such as poisonous gas released from mushrooms.

The update will also include the Clone Commando character, which will be available as a reinforcement. This clone's blaster can be turned into a grenade launcher, allowing players to take out enemies and vehicles quickly. On top of the grenade launcher, the Clone Commando will also include a repulsor blast stun ability, as well as battle focus, which will reduce damage for the player and their nearby allies. Additionally, any damage the Clone Commando does to enemies will regenerate the character's health.

An Instant Action mode was also announced, which sounds reminiscent of game modes from the original Star Wars: Battlefront titles. The mode will allow players to enter solo action vs an army of AIs, where their goal will be to take down their enemies and capture command posts. The mode will be highly customizable, giving players plenty to experiment with when they're not feeling up for online multiplayer.

The new feature that could potentially be the biggest though, is the 4-player online co-op mode. The game mode will feature large-scale co-op missions across the Clone Wars universe, allowing players to take part in classic battles while working with their teammates to accomplish specific tasks. The announcement also teased that in the October update, players will be able to choose between the Republic and Separatist factions, and play through a series of attack and defense co-op missions.

Star Wars: Battlefront II's new update will go live on September 25, at which point all of this content will become available. DICE has done an excellent job of continuing to update Battlefront II, and the game has seen massive improvements from what it was at launch. The update also teased that new content will be released in line with the upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which will be released on December 20.
