The sequel to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is rumoured to be exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC when it launches in 2023.
A second Fallen Order game has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry ever since the successful launch of the first game, with EA outright confirming that Respawn was working on a sequel last month. Since then we've had some small details leaked about it, like that it'll drop the title "Fallen Order" for something new, but the latest rumour is arguably one of the most interesting of all.
As reported by GamesBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, the sequel to Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will reportedly be exclusive to current-gen consoles, meaning that it'll reportedly only be playable on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. During his Grubbsnax podcast, Grubb said, "Star Wars Jedi 2 is going to be new-gen only, where it’s PS5, Xbox Series X and S, and then of course PC."
As for the release date, Grubb reports that it has slipped internally from late 2022 to 2023, saying, "One of the reasons they’re gong to be able to do that (release on current-gen) is because it’s not coming out until 2023. This game is for sure now not coming out until 2023. I guess it’s a slight disappointment, but I think we’ve been preparing people for that on the show anytime we talk about it. Every time it comes up I said they were targeting 2022, but nobody should really get their hopes up for that. Well, now we can for sure say it’s definitely 2023”.
Grubb continued to talk about some of the reasoning behind pushing Jedi 2 back to 2023, "It makes it easier to just disassociate yourself with those millions of PS4s and Xbox Ones out in the world when you are in 2023 and you’re going to have several months of making it very easy to get an Xbox Series X, probably a few months before now and then when it’s actually okay to get a PS5".
