Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, will reportedly reveal its VR first-person shooter officially in September.

Respawn first announced this mystery VR title back in 2017, but not much has been revealed about the game since. It will be developed by Respawn, with Oculus Studios as the publisher. The game will likely be exclusive to Oculus Rift, but there's still no word on whether it will additionally come to Oculus Quest, according to Road to VR. The only information about the game, which has yet to have an official name, is detailed in a brief teaser video that was released in 2017. There's also a job listing at Respawn pointing to the game being a "AAA VR Shooter."

The Oculus Connect event is being held at the end of September, and not only will Respawn's VR title be revealed there, but the event will reportedly feature a playable demo of the game as well. According to that 2017 teaser video, this VR game was set to launch sometime in 2019. However, with the year being halfway over and the official announcement only coming in September, a slight delay could very well be in the cards.

There's also the question of whether or not the VR title will be single-player or multiplayer, or even both. Respawn is capable of developing games with compelling campaigns as well as titles with robust online modes. The free-to-play battle royale game Apex Legends proved to be successful earlier this year, while Titanfall 2 featured a well-received story mode.

Respawn's next highly-anticipated game is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which will be released on November 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The title will be quite similar to what is known as a Metroidvania game, featuring an in-depth progression system with mechanics similar to the implied Metroid and Castlevania franchises. Players will have command over a crew and can explore different planets in whichever order they choose. Players will be capable of visiting certain planets for story missions but will have the opportunity to visit these locations again for further exploration and to unlock valuable items.

Whether Respawn's VR title will be single-player or multiplayer, hearing news of an incoming announcement is exciting. Respawn has proved itself to be one of the top tier studios working today, and it will be fascinating to see what a VR experience from the developer would look and play like. As such, gamers will get a glimpse at what may be to come with the game's preview in September.
