Respawn recently took to the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order subreddit to announce a new patch primarily meant to mend some of the game’s remaining issues and iron out some of the recurring gameplay glitches.

The devs have outlined exactly what the December 11th patch will fix in a post players can read here. It’s rather lengthy and mostly focuses on incredibly specific issues, but it could be a life-saver for those plagued with constant crashes or irritating texture streaming issues. Respawn isn’t without a subtle tinge of humor, either, stating that “during a fight with the Second Sister, it was possible for her to get stuck in a door. She has been freed,” and “in some rare cases, Cal was floating on Kashyyyk. He has since been grounded.” The forthcoming patch will also introduce a new photo mode which will be accessible in-game in the pause menu. It’ll greatly heighten the quality of Fallen Order screenshots and allow players to do things like change the lighting, remove the player model, and apply filters.

Most importantly for the aesthetically-minded Jedi amongst us, however, will be the ability to remove the switch on Cere’s lightsaber. Those who don’t know what we’re talking about may want to stop reading now, as this is a bit of a spoiler. Those who’ve beaten the game, however, will know that, during Cal’s trip to Ilum, he combines Cere’s hand-me-down saber with his newly-constructed blade to allow for a new dual-wield attack.

Engaging as it was from a gameplay perspective, some players noticed that Cere’s lightsaber came with one major caveat: the shoddy, rusted switch on the hilt couldn't be removed. This seriously ruined the feng shui of the weapon and felt like a smack in the face to those who spent more time than they’d be willing to admit customizing the thing. While a majority of players weren’t likely to notice—Cal’s hand covers most of the saber’s hilt in combat—others were particularly bothered by it, enough for a small but vocal minority to catch Respawn’s attention.

It’s extremely refreshing to see a game launch in a completed, no-holds-barred state, but, at the same time, we’d love a reason to return to the game after the credits roll. Yet, unless you’re really itching to go back in and see what Cal’s lightsaber looks like without that unnecessary extra bit, there’s not much of a reason to re-explore the galaxy far, far away. Still, bonus content or not, Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order is an excellent game, and the upcoming patch seems set to make it just a bit better.
