Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 has just been released in the form of a fan remake after three years of development. This new version of the classic video game was created by a group of dedicated individuals working tirelessly to bring their vision of Jedi Knight to life using Unreal Engine 5, Ruppertle.

The original Dark Forces 2 came out back in 1997 and was immediately met with critical acclaim. The game was praised for its immersive story, engaging gameplay, and innovative use of the Star Wars universe. Dark Forces 2 has become a cult classic over the years and a favorite of Star Wars fans everywhere. Having been released almost three decades ago, Dark Forces 2 has on the other hand been showing signs of age, many players pushing for the game to be remade or remastered.

This would of course be where Ruppertle came in. The team of developers behind this project has been working for the last three years to create a new version of the game that would appeal to both old and new fans alike. The group has basically retained the gameplay of the original, but updated Dark Forces 2 with modern graphics and controls, among other things.

The remake was made using Unreal Engine 5 and includes two levels from the original game, four survival levels, a sandbox mode, testing tools, and “some secrets.” The game is currently available for download through Ruppertle's Discord server. Players have been calling the remake a true love letter to the original and are praising the developers for their attention to detail and commitment to the Star Wars universe. The remake is said to be a faithful recreation of the original, but with all of the modern touches that fans have been asking for in recent years.

Ruppertle has clearly put in an incredible amount of work to create a game which is faithful to the original, but still feels incredibly modern. Whether you're a fan of the original game or a newcomer to the Jedi Knight series, this remake of Dark Forces 2 is definitely worth a download.
