A Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic movie or TV show could be in the works, with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy having revealed that "something" related to the title is currently being developed.

Kennedy was recently interviewed by MTV and hinted that there could be a movie or show linked to the above, claiming that Lucasfilm is "developing something to look at" but warning that nothing is confirmed to be moving forward despite a project being developed.

“Right now I have no idea where things fall, but we have to be careful that there is a cadence to Star Wars that doesn’t start to feel like too much," she added, implying that the outcome does not hinge solely on whether or not Lucasfilm reckons it can make great Knights of the Old Republic content.

While she did not mention it, there's also the matter of Disney possibly feeling like they've pumped too much Star Wars into the market as of late, given that Episodes 7 and 8, Rogue 1 and Solo have all been released in recent years. Her bit on cadence does suggest that Star Wars films could be spaced out a bit more than they've been lately so it can't be confirmed that there will be room to fit in a Knights of the Old Republic movie or show.

Despite the obvious skepticism, fans still have reason to be optimistic over the possibility of a new Knights of the Old Republic emerging simply based on the fact that it is being considered. That Kennedy has spoken publicly about it could also be taken as a huge positive.

The title is a popular one in the gaming community, following the first Knights of the Old Republic game being developed by BioWare back in 2003. The RPG's sequel was developed by Obsidian a year later but LucasArts canceled the third installment amid company struggles.

There was a comeback in 2011 when Star Wars: The Old Republic released; and the game continues to get expansions, with the latest one set for September. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is available for PC, the original Xbox, Android and iOS devices. It is still playable on Xbox 360 and Xbox one through their backward compatibility.
