Republic Commando might be heading to the Nintendo Switch. According to Nintendo eShop dataminer NWPlayer123, Aspyr Media just uploaded game files for the 16-year-old game to Nintendo's backend.
You might remember Aspyr Media as the same folks who ported Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer to the Switch along with the old Jedi Knight games. They did a good job, all things considered, and now it looks like they're about to lend their talent to another classic Star Wars title.
Star Wars: Republic Commando is widely seen as one of the best Star Wars games ever made, and certainly the best Star Wars first-person shooter. You play from the perspective of a clone commando force led by RC-1338, or "Boss" as his troop refers to him, taking orders from Jedi Knights prior to the Emperor's rule. Although each commando in the squad has the same voice, they all have distinct personalities and markings to set them all apart.
For the time (2005), Star Wars: Republic Commando had some fantastic graphics and great action, but the campaign was tragically short. Also, sales weren't quite enough to warrant a sequel, although the game did gain a cult following that has long called for one.

In other Aspyr news, the company was recently bought out by THQ Nordic parent company Embracer Group for a cool $450 million. Gematsu reported that Aspyr has grown to 140 employees and also has a "major" project in the works.
Aspyr’s game may or may not be a Star Wars title, but we do know for sure that Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment is working on a brand new AAA Star Wars game which will be the first one to come from outside of EA in over a decade. Don’t get too excited about it, though, as Massive’s game won’t be coming out until 2023 at the earliest.
