When playing Star Wars: The Old Republic, you have eight stories to choose from, divided equally between the two factions, the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Each of them has a unique plot for you to enjoy, where your choices can affect some of the overall narratives, making this game particularly interesting for those who enjoy storylines in games.

That said, if you choose to do all eight stories to experience it all, you may notice some names repeating here and there. Though each story is independent, they have some small connections, showing that many NPCs know one another, for example.

These entries will contain minor spoilers from the game's story in order to contextualize the situation. The last entry in particular contains the biggest spoiler.

10 Companions Who Know One Another

Aric Jorgan, Risha, Vette, and Qyzen Fess, companions from Star Wars The Old Republic
From left to right: Aric Jorgan, Risha, Vette, and Qyzen Fess.

Throughout each character's journey, you'll get a few companions who'll become part of your crew. Each class gets five of them, and they help you out in your missions, as a companion normally does in games. Still, they're unique characters, and you get to talk to them occasionally, and even go out on missions that they have when they ask you to help.

One interesting detail here is that some companions know other companions from different classes, showing that they're more connected than initially thought and that all class stories happen in a similar time span. Some examples are:

  • Qyzen Fess used to work alongside Mako.
  • Doc and Kaliyo used to date.
  • Lt. Iresso used to serve under Aric Jorgan.
  • Zenith worked for Gray Star, an enemy you fight against as the Imperial Agent.
  • Risha and Vette are childhood friends.

9 Star Cabal

A meeting from the secret group Star Cabal in Star Wars: The Old Republic

The Star Cabal is a group of non-Force users who despise both Jedi and Sith, claiming their ways are what causes the galaxy to have as many problems as it has. They are also a group of enemies you fight against when playing as the Imperial Agent.

What's curious about this group is that some members appear in other stories as smaller characters. The Twi'Lek Kolovish found on Tython for a side quest, the Hutt Nem'Ro, who is an important character throughout the Agent's and Bounty Hunter's prologue stories, and Nok Drayen, who plays a big role in the Smuggler's story, are all members of the Star Cabal, for example.

8 Darth Lachris

Darth Lachris, a Boss from Star Wars: The Old Republic

For those who have played with any Imperial character, you may remember Darth Lachris. She appears very early on Balmorra and gives some of the final missions on the planet, where you help her take control of Balmorra once and for all. You may also remember her for being a flirting option because that's always a fun thing to do.

When playing as the Jedi Consular, you'll eventually be tasked with taking Balmorra back from the Empire. And your fight to save the planet puts you against Lachris herself. Essentially, the Consular has to clean up the mess the Imperial players made.

7 Nasan Godera

The Republic scientist Nasan Godera, from Star Wars: The Old Republic

Nasan Godera is another character you may remember if you've played through the Jedi Knight story. He is a very intelligent scientist, willing to go far for the Republic. Several of his inventions are stolen, and recovering them is the plot of the Jedi Knight's first arc. But it doesn't stop there.

During the Imperial Agent's second arc, you also go after Godera's research and find even more inventions as deadly as the ones you see during the Knight's campaign. It's up to you how to handle these discoveries, as they both present interesting choices for both the Knight and the Agent.

6 Watcher One

Watcher One, an antagonist from Star Wars: The Old Republic

You may have noticed that many of these crossovers come from the Imperial Agent story. Well, that's going to continue a bit more. When the Agent first goes to Dromund Kaas, you meet many associates. Among them, you meet the Watchers, who gather intelligence to help you out. You work mostly with Watcher Two and sometimes Watcher Three. Where is the first one, though?

To get that answer, you need to go to Taris as the Jedi Knight. One of your enemies there is from Imperial Intelligent, and his name, or rather, alias, is Watcher One. Though this character doesn't appear in both stories, his place here justifies him being unavailable to help the Imperial Agent.

5 Sith Power Struggles

Darth Baras, an antagonist from Star Wars: The Old Republic

Once more as the Imperial Agent, this time on the planet Corellia, where one of the most decisive battles between the Republic and the Empire take place, which does involve all classes. The Imperials take the planet, and the Republic takes it back later. One of the reasons why the Empire can't keep things together is their eternal power struggle among the Sith.

As the Agent, you have to work extra to contain the fights for reasons that are best kept vague to avoid spoilers. Here, you'll hear about the fights between Darth Thanaton and another Sith - The Inquisitor character you can make - And a fight between Darth Baras against his former apprentice - aka The Sith Warrior - and Darth Vowrawn, an NPC that helps the Warrior out. Essentially, you get information on what the Warrior and the Inquisitor are up to in their stories.

4 The Supreme Chancellor

Janarus and Saresh, the former and current Supreme Chancellors in Star Wars: The Old Republic

This case is not about a character appearing a lot. Quite the contrary, in fact. Due to some conversations among Republic characters, you may find out the identity of the Supreme Chancellor; a Human named Janarus. However, when the Jedi Consular ends their story and meets the Chancellor, it's another person, A Twi'Lek named Saresh. What happened?

Well, you can already guess, but to get all the details as to why the Chancellor changes, you'll have to complete the Bounty Hunter storyline, as they are responsible for this change in staff. It's all part of the job, after all.

3 The Bastion

Lieutenant Pierce, a companion from Star Wars: The Old Republic

Another fun case of Imperials messing things up and the Republic fixing things later is the Bastion, a powerful stronghold on the planet Corellia which is an important asset for both sides during the war. The Empire takes the Bastion with the help of Lieutenant Pierce, one of the Sith Warrior's companions. Though the Warrior doesn't help, you do several conversations with him, preparing the assault with other NPCs

Now, guess what is your mission when you arrive at Corellia as the Republic Trooper. Yes, your job is to take back the Bastion from the Imperials, un-doing what Pierce and his allies did before.

2 Children Of The Emperor

Kira, a companion from Star Wars: The Old Republic

Sleeper agents within the Republic, they are unaware of their affiliation to the Emperor, and they can be activated whenever he feels like it to do his bidding. This is a major plot point for the Jedi Consular, who is tasked to deal with such a crisis.

Curiously, one of the Knight's companions, Kira, is a child of the Emperor, though her situation is a bit different from the others. You can help her out and solve this situation by doing her companion missions.

1 Emperor's Voice And Wrath

Lord Scourge, a companion from Star Wars: The Old Republic

Now, for the heavy spoiler entry. During the Knight's final chapter, you recruit Lord Scourge, the Wrath of the Emperor, to fight against the Emperor himself. Because of that, the position of Emperor's Wrath is open, and the Sith Warrior takes that position.

As the new Wrath, you free the Emperor's essence to create a new Voice of the Emperor, a man who represents the Emperor, who is then defeated by the Knight later on, making both of these stories happen concurrently.
