BioWare has postponed the launch of the next expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic just a few days before the original date. Instead of December 14 as earlier intended, Legacy of the Sith is now expected to arrive on February 15.

The developer released an update on the official The Old Republic blog. Just in November, the team confirmed that the eighth expansion is still on track to launch for free in December for subscribers. As it turns out, BioWare opted to do "additional testing on the many areas [it] has changed throughout the game to deliver the experience [the studio] wants, and one that you deserve," which is why it requires two extra months.

Project director Keith Kanneg explained that Legacy of the Sith "is something the team has been hard at work on for quite a while," so the devs want to launch the expansion at its finest, with no rushing to potentially hamper the experience. Moreover, the studio plans to implement player feedback from the game's public test server - most of the non-story content of the DLC will return to PTS for all subscribers later this week.

Legacy of the Sith takes you to the worlds of Manaan and Elom during the new questlines revolving around the return of Darth Malgus. But aside from the new story content, the expansion introduces a variety of updates and improvements to the game's systems, such as character creation and gear progression, allowing for a higher degree of customization.

Star Wars: The Old Republic will celebrate its tenth anniversary throughout 2022, and the studio has "a whole year of activities planned that will spark a lot of conversation with players." According to BioWare, Legacy of the Sith is only the kick-off point for the next ten-year journey of the beloved MMO.

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Legacy of the Sith will launch on February 15, 2022.
