With the wide range of crops available in Stardew Valley, it's only natural that some are better money-makers than others. One great money-making crop to add to your farm is the ancient fruit. This is a rare blue fruit that takes an entire season to grow.
In this guide, we are going to go over everything you need to know about the ancient fruit, including where to find the seeds, how to grow them, and what to do with harvested ancient fruit. First, let's take a look at how to get ancient fruit seeds.
Where To Find Ancient Fruit Seeds
Ancient fruits can be grown from ancient seeds. There are a few different ways to acquire ancient seeds for the first time, so let's take a look at each method below.
The Traveling Merchant
Ancient seeds can be purchased from the Traveling Merchant for anywhere between 100g to 1,000g. The merchants have tons of different items that all have a 1.26 percent chance of appearing in her current stock.
The Traveling Merchant will appear every Friday and Sunday at the north end of the Cindersap Forest, just left of Marnie's Ranch. Donating The Ancient Seed Artifact
After donating the ancient seed artifact to the Museum, Gunther will reward you with a pack of ancient seeds, as well as the recipe. This recipe can be crafted with the ancient seed artifact.
The ancient seed artifact can be found in the following locations.
- Artifact Spots
- 0.7 percent chance to drop in the following locations:
- Cindersap Forest
- The Mountain
- Fishing Treasure Chest
- 0.8 percent chance
- Artifact Trove
- 3.7 percent chance
- Monster Drops
- 0.5 percent chance to drop from the following monsters:
- Bug
- Cave Fly
- Grub
- Mutant Fly
- Mutant Grub
Seed Maker
The seed maker is a piece of equipment that will produce seeds depending on the crop put in. Most of the time, you will receive the seeds of the crop placed, but you will also have a 0.5 percent chance to receive between one and three ancient fruit seeds.
Growing Ancient Fruit
Growing an ancient fruit is a long task as it will take 28 days for the seeds to fully grow. Ancient fruit seeds can be grown outside in every season except for Winter.
After fully growing, the ancient fruit plant will continue to yield fruit. This means that if you plant the seed on Spring 25, you can harvest it on Summer 25, and then again on Fall 25.
A great place to grow your ancient fruit seeds is inside the greenhouse. Here, you will be able to grow the seeds all year, and you do not have to worry about the plant dying in the Winter. This means that after you plant one seed in the greenhouse, it will basically last forever.
Ancient seeds cannot be planted in the garden pot. If you try to plant an ancient seed in this pot, a message will pop up stating that "her roots grow very deep... She wouldn't be happy in there".
What To Do With Ancient Fruit

Placing any quality of ancient fruit into a preserves jar will yield jam that sells for a base price of 1,150g and 1,610g with the Artisan profession. Ancient fruit wine prices depend on the quality, so let's take a look at these prices below.

Ancient fruits are not used in any recipe, however, there are still few other uses. To complete the Missing Bundle, you will have the option to donate five gold-quality ancient fruit. Completing this bundle will reward you with the Movie Theatre. If you are playing with a remixed version of the Community Center, you will also have the option to donate an ancient fruit for the Rare Crops Bundle in the Pantry.
Lastly, combining one ancient fruit and one piece of cloth at a sewing machine will produce Genie Pants.
