Stone is one of the most important resources in Stardew Valley. It's used to craft a lot of recipes and one of the Community Center bundles also requires a considerable amount of Stone. So, you're often in need of Stone throughout the majority of your playthroughs.

Although you can purchase Stone from Robin, it is quite expensive. During the first year, she will sell Stone for 20g; then, at the start of Year 2, she will increase the price to 100g per Stone. So, even if you're swimming in cash, it's difficult to justify paying such an elevated price for Stone. That's why we're here to help with this Stone farming guide.

Updated on July 9, 2023: We've updated this guide on the best ways to farm stone in Stardew Valley so you can stock up on this valuable resource with ease.

The first thing you'll want to do when farming stone is to upgrade your pickaxe. You will be encountering a lot of different stones and having a strong pickaxe is especially useful when you find boulders.

You can only destroy boulders once you've upgraded your axe to Steel.

Make Some Bombs To Speed Up Stone Mining

Bombs are another item that you'll need for farming Stone.

There are three types of bombs in Stardew Valley. Each type of bomb has a different radius.

Bomb Type

Radius (Tiles)

Crafting Materials Required

Cherry Bomb

3

4x Copper Ore

1x Coal

Regular Bomb

5

4x Iron Ore

1x Coal

Mega Bomb

6-8

4x Gold Ore

1x Solar Essence

1x Void Essence

Bombs will break any rocks within their radius and turn them into Stone immediately.

Then, you simply have to walk through and collect the Stone nearby.

Visit The Mines And The Quarry

One of the most efficient methods of stone farming is to go through the first ten levels of the mines and only break boulders, ignoring the rocks. This way, you don't have to spend many bombs, and you get ten Stone from each boulder.

But, since using the pickaxe can take quite a long time, many prefer to resort to bombs. Placing bombs in a strategic place in the mines can get you a considerable amount of stone in just a few seconds.

The Quarry, for example, is a great location to place down a bomb. Rocks spawn there every day, and they spawn very close together.

Quite a few gem and ore nodes also spawn in the Quarry. So, if you're only looking for Stone, it'll reduce the amount you collect that day, but it's still worth visiting.
