Haley is one of the least popular NPCs in Stardew Valley due to the fact that she comes off as rude when first spoken to. But, she'll become much more endearing the more you get to know her, and she starts to reveal her softer side.
Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Marrying Penny
Do you want to marry Penny in Stardew Valley? Here, you can learn how to fully romance her.Haley also isn't the easiest marriage candidate to romance, as her favorite gifts can be harder to find in the early game. But, like the rest, she's well worth the effort, because she's a kind and caring person once her icy exterior begins to thaw.
Updated January 7, 2024 by Jacqueline Zalace: Forming a meaningful relationship and marrying an NPC in Stardew Valley can be a long process. To help with this, we've updated the gifting table for Haley, so you can quickly give her the perfect gift.
Haley's Basic Info
Haley is a younger character who seems to have just gotten out of high school. She is a picky girl who loves attention, especially when it's on her birthday. She doesn't have a job like many of the other NPCs, and Emily is her sister.
- Birthday: Spring 14
- Home Location: 2 Willow Lane, in the southwest of Pelican Town
- Clinic Visit: Winter 9
- Night Market Visit: Winter 16
- Occupation: None
Haley's Schedule
Haley is moderately active and can be a bit hard to keep track of, especially since she goes for walks in the middle of the day. Below, you can check out Haley's schedule for every day of the year.

The Best Places To Find Haley
If you are still in Spring, the best place to find Haley is near the fountain by the Community Center. She is here five days during the week, from around 11 am to 4 pm.
As with other NPCs, you can also wait near her house. Haley will never go to the Saloon, so she heads home pretty early most days.
Gifting to Haley
Haley is a character with expensive taste, which can be frustrating, especially in the early parts of the game when you are strapped for cash. Most of her loves won't be available for quite some time in-game. Luckily, once you repair the bus, you can get a ton of Coconuts from the Desert, which she loves.
Dating and marrying an NPC relies on you improving your friendship level with that NPC, so be diligent and talk to Haley every day and give her a gift twice a week!

The Best Gifts To Give
Once you unlock the Desert, coconuts are by far the best gift to give. They are plentiful, and Haley loves them. Prior to this, we recommend giving Haley Daffodils. This is a flower that can be found around the valley during Spring. Pluck all the Daffodils that you see, and save them to give to Haley as weekly gifts.
Dating Haley
Haley will have most of her heart events inside of her own home. Below, you can find each event, as well as how to trigger it, and the answers you will need to give.
Once you and Haley have eight friendship hearts together, Pierre will send you a letter to inform you that he's selling a new item. It's a Bouquet, which costs 200g and can be given to a character to ask them to date you!
When you give it to Haley, she'll agree and her relationship status in the Social menu will change to "girlfriend."
Marrying Haley
Upon earning ten hearts of friendship with Haley, you'll get some mail from the Mayor. Lewis informs you that, in Stardew Valley, you can propose to someone by giving them a special necklace: the Mermaid's Pendant. Unfortunately, he doesn't clue you in about where to find it.
Have you ever encountered the strange old man who stands on the beach sometimes? To reach him, the bridge on the beach that leads to the tide pools must have been repaired.
He only appears on rainy days, and he'll sell you the Mermaid's Pendant for 5,000g if you're at ten hearts of friendship with at least one romanceable character and you've upgraded your home at least once.
The only way to trigger the Old Mariner's appearance during the Winter is to use a rain totem.
When you give the Mermaid's Pendant to Haley, she'll accept your proposal (unless, for some reason, she's dropped down in hearts with you) and set the date for your wedding! It takes place three days after the day you proposed. If there happens to be an event happening in the town square that day, the wedding just gets pushed back a day.
After the beautiful ceremony, you and Haley will spawn at the entrance to the farmhouse. Haley will have added her own touches to the space: her unique spouse room on the right side of the house and a little area for photography outside.
Marriage Schedule
After the wedding, Haley moves in with you and spends most of her time around the house and farm. She can be found doing the following activities.
- Watering crops
- Feeding animals
- Watering the animal bowl
- Repairing broken fences
- Giving you gifts
- Decorating the house
- In her unique outside area
- In her unique indoor room
However, she does have a unique schedule on Mondays.

Haley's Fourteen Heart Cutscene
As with the other marriage candidates, Haley has a special 14-heart event as well, for after you've gotten married. It occurs in three parts, and none of the conversation options have an impact on your friendship level with her.
- To activate the first part, reach 14 hearts with her and then enter Pelican Town between 8 am and 3 pm on a day when it's not raining.
- To activate the second part, wait at least one day after the first part occurred, then enter the farmhouse sometime between 6:20 am and 5 pm.
- To activate the third part, wait at least one day after the second part occurred, then enter Pelican Town while you have a chocolate cake in your inventory. It must be between 6 am and 3 pm on a day when it isn't raining.
Maintaining Marriage Or Choosing Divorce
Once you are married, you won't have to give Haley as many gifts. To maintain a happy marriage, just talk to her every day. Upon interacting enough, the two of you will kiss, with a little heart appearing over your head.
If, for some reason, you don't want to be married anymore, you can divorce Haley. This is relatively easy but will cost some gold. Here, you can check out a walkthrough for getting divorced. After getting a divorce, Haley won't be too fond of you.
If this negativity is stressful or sad, you can wipe Haley's memory at a shrine, which can be accessed after doing a short quest line for the Wizard.
