As the game has grown in popularity, more and more people have come to see the doctor's charm. Harvey is a man who is just happy to have companionship and is one of the most laid-back and mature romance paths.
His gift preferences and schedule reflect his age and stable job, and his heart events are quite different than any other NPC in the game. Here, we are going to take a look at just how to pursue and marry Harvey.
Updated September 20, 2023 by Jacqueline Zalace: Harvey of Stardew Valley continues to capture hearts with his calm and mature demeanor. We've updated this marriage guide with refreshed formatting and a bit more information to help you win Harvey's heart. Now, you can find everything that Harvey likes in no time and complete all his cutscenes with ease.
Harvey's Basic Info
It seems Harvey is the oldest bachelor in town (or at least one of the oldest bachelors) but is still happy to have his birthday remembered. Since he is the doctor himself, he doesn't have a yearly clinic visit, but will still take time off work to go down to visit the Night Market when it comes to town.
- Birthday: Winter 14
- Home Location: The Clinic beside the General Store
- Night Market Visit: Winter 15
- Occupation: Town Doctor
Harvey's Schedule
Harvey has a very steady schedule that is easy to memorize. His schedule stays mostly the same throughout the seasons, making it one of the easiest to remember out of the marriage cast.
The only time the schedule will be completely thrown off is if it is raining at a time he usually goes out or on Winter 15 when he visits the Night Market.

The Best Places To Find Harvey
When in doubt of Harvey's location, head to the Clinic. He is here most of the time, however prior to having enough friendship points, you will not be able to go up to the second floor.
If you are trying to find Harvey during the Spring while still in your first year, he can be found to the left of the town plaza, in a small grassy area. He will be here Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday for most of the afternoon, so be sure to stop by.
Gifting To Harvey
Harvey's loves mostly involve processed items which may be a bit hard to get in the early game. Luckily, nothing he likes is extremely expensive and they're mostly what you would expect from a doctor.
To romance characters in Stardew Valley, all you need to do is increase the number of hearts they have with you, represented in the Social tab. To get those hearts, be sure to talk to Harvey every day and give him gifts twice a week!
The Best Gifts To Give
If you are struggling to find Harvey's loved gifts, then we recommend sticking to his likes. Quartz, fruit, and milk are all fairly easy to obtain.
It's important to note that you can buy coffee at the Saloon, which is one of Harvey's loved gifts. If you have some money to spare, you can stock up on coffee to give Harvey.
Dating Harvey
Below, you can check out how to trigger every cutscene with Harvey, as well as any potential choices that you will need to make.
You can start dating Harvey as soon as you reach eight hearts of friendship with him! That will prompt Pierre to send you a letter in the mail, telling you he's begun to sell Bouquets for 200g.
When you give one to Harvey, he'll happily accept. After this, his status will also change in the Social menu to "boyfriend."
Marrying Harvey
Upon reaching ten hearts of friendship with Harvey, you get a special note in the mail from Lewis. He tells you, conveniently, how people in Stardew Valley propose to one another: they gift their partner a Mermaid's Pendant. Lewis doesn't tell you how to get one, unfortunately.
That's what we're here for! You get the Mermaid's Pendant from the Old Mariner, an NPC who appears on rainy days on the beach. He's near the tidal pools, so you need to repair the wooden bridge on the beach first. Then, if you're still at ten hearts with Harvey, and have upgraded your house at least once, he'll sell you the Mermaid's Pendant for 5,000g.
The only way to trigger the Old Mariner's appearance during the Winter is to use a rain totem.
Once you propose to Harvey with the Mermaid's Pendant and he accepts, your wedding will be set for three days from the day you asked. If it happens to be a day when there's something going on in the town square, your wedding is just pushed back a day.
After a glorious wedding, Harvey will move into the farm with you. You'll both be transported there. Harvey will have a new, unique spousal room on the right side of the house, as well as a unique garden area outside. You'll also get the opportunity to improve his friendship level all the way to 14 hearts.
Marriage Schedule
Harvey will live on the farm after marriage. He can be found doing the following tasks.
- Watering crops
- Feeding animals
- Watering the animal bowl
- Repairing broken fences
- Giving you gifts
- Decorating the house
- In his unique outside area
- In his unique indoor room
Harvey leaves a little more often than the other spouses because he's still running the Clinic; he leaves on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. You can check out the schedule for these days below.

Harvey's Fourteen Hearts Cutscene
All of the marriage candidates have 14-heart events that can take place after you marry them. To get Harvey's, you need to reach 14 hearts and have upgraded your house at least twice. Then, enter your house anytime between 8 pm and midnight.
Maintaining Marriage Or Choosing Divorce
To maintain a happy marriage with Harvey, don't forget to talk to him every day. When your spouse lives with you, they will most likely be standing in the kitchen every morning. Before heading out the door, swing by Harvey, talk, and give him a kiss! You don't have to give him gifts, but it's still a nice gesture.
Married life can be a blissful experience, but what if you grow to dislike Harvey? Although this is sure to break his heart, you can get a divorce. The process is straightforward; just head to the Mayor's house and interact with the books on the left side of his kitchen.
Lastly, you can completely wipe Harvey's memories of your marriage and divorce by using a certain Shrine. This will unlock once you complete a quest for the Wizard.
