Stardew Valley's massive Update 1.5 is "in the home stretch," according to its developer, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone. Update 1.5's specifics are still tightly under wraps, but we do know it'll include a new split-screen mode on PC and the addition of bananas as a growable crop. Oh, and it'll be completely free, too.

Barone's latest tweet said, "it's a very big update so there is a lot of polishing and bug fixing necessary to make sure it's ready." Only a few images have been released of the update, but some Stardew fans were able to identify the following new content:

  • New chests
  • A telephone stand
  • Two new artisan equipment
  • A solar essence statue
  • A new enemy (Dubbed "cool slime" by the community)

It's also been announced that "a significant piece of end-game content" will be made available in 1.5. There's also the aforementioned split-screen mode and bananas to look forward to, along with whatever surprise content Barone has planned.

There's no official release date for Update 1.5 but, seeing as Update 1.4 launched towards the end of last November, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it arrive in the coming weeks.

Stardew Valley released in 2016, yet the game continues to thrive, thanks to constant updates and patches from its passionate developer.
