An early quest that you will encounter is the Rat Problem. This simple quest is the key to unlocking both the Community Center and the Wizard, so you will definitely want to complete it. In this guide, we are going to go over where to get this quest, the requirements, and the rewards. First, let's take a look at how to accept this quest.

How To Accept The Rat Problem Quest

To accept this quest, all you need to do is enter the central part of Pelican Town between 8 am and 1 pm on a sunny day after Spring 5.

Doing so will trigger a short cutscene with Mayor Lewis, where he will tell you about a rat problem that is occurring within the Community Center. This quest will also unlock access to the Community Center. Prior to this quest, you will not have access to the building, and it will remain locked.

Quest Requirements

After speaking to Mayor Lewis, you will automatically accept the Rat Problem quest. To complete the quest, you will need to enter the Community Center and examine the Golden Scroll that can be found in the Crafts Room.

When you first interact with the scroll, it will appear in a language that you will not understand. Once you have interacted with the scroll, you can leave and return to what you were doing.

With the Community Center investigated, wait until the following day. When you wake up and head out of your farmhouse, you will have a letter from the Wizard, asking you to visit his tower.

Meet The Wizard Quest

The Rat Problem quest will automatically begin the quest to meet the Wizard. This will be your first time encountering this NPC.

Make your way to the Wizard's Tower and speak to him inside. He will give you a potion that allows you to read the language of the Junimos; this is the language that can be found on the Golden Scroll.

The Wizard's Tower can be found on the lefthand side of the Cindersap Forest. This is the area directly south of your farm, where Marnie's Ranch is. From the ranch, head to the left; the tower will be on a hill at the top of a short staircase.

Rewards For Completing Both Quests

Once both of these quests have been completed, you will be able to enter the Community Center whenever you want, as well as understand what the scroll on the ground says.

This scroll is an important part of completing the Community Center bundles. On the original Golden Scroll, you will see six different categories. Clicking on one will open a new tab, with slots to place items. Each one of these is a bundle; completing a bundle will provide you with a reward. When all six bundles have been complete, the bridge leading to the Quarry in the Mountains will be repaired.

Additionally, other bundles in the Community Center will become available once the first bundle has been complete. For more information, be sure to check out our guide on completing the Community Center.
