What Is The Lost And Found Box?

The lost and found box is used to retrieve the following items listed below.

  • Special Order Items
  • Lost Quest items
  • Lost Tools
  • Hats from Children
  • Items Left Behind At Stardew Valley Fair

Let's take a look at each of these in more detail.

Special Order Items

Special orders are unique quests that are posted on a board directly in front of the mayor's house. The board will display two special orders, allowing you to choose which one you want.

In general, the quests will require you to collect an item and place it in a specified area. For example, the Fragments of the Past special order requires you to deliver 100 bone fragments to the museum dropbox.

These quests can be difficult at times, which means you may not be able to finish them before the allotted time limit. This is where the lost and found box comes in.

If you cannot complete the order before running out of time, the items that you have already delivered will be returned to you. For example, if you only donate 50 out of the 100 bone fragments, you can get retrieve them from the lost and found box.

Lost Quest Items and Tools

Sometimes, you just lose items and tools. It happens to everyone; but with the lost and found box, you don't have to worry. If you accidentally lose or throw away an important item, it will appear in the lost and found box.

Hats From Children

If you interact with your child while holding a hat, the hat will be placed on their head. By visiting the Witch's Hut and interacting with the Dark Shrine of Selfishness, you will also be able to turn your children into doves, essentially erasing them from the game. This area can be accessed after completing the Goblin Problem quest. What happens to their hats after they turn into doves. though? You can easily retrieve these hats by visiting the lost and found box.

Items Left Behind At Stardew Valley Fair

The annual Stardew Valley Fair takes place on Fall 16. At this festival, you will have the opportunity to display nine different items. These items will be taken into consideration to declare a winner for the Grange Display contest. After the contest is over, Mayor Lewis will remind you to collect all of the items.

If you forget to collect these items, they will appear in the lost and found box the following day.

Lost And Found Box Location

The lost and found box can be found inside Mayor Lewis' house. After you walk into his house, just head forward until you come across a box with a question mark above it. Any lost items will be in here and interacting with the box will place them in your inventory.

Because this box is located inside, it will only be available when the mayor's house is unlocked, which is every day between 8:30 am to 10 pm.
