Stardew Valley has been out for years now. And as with games that have been running for so long, it has a treasure trove of mods ranging from simple things like language packs and improved sprites, to ones that turn villagers into sexy anime girls. It can get a bit confusing to manage all these mods, but don't worry, there's a mod for that too.

Stardrop is an open source mod manager for the game available on Nexus Mods (thanks, PCGamesN). It's currently in open beta and uses SMAPI (Stardew Modding API) to “simplify the management and update checking for all applicable mods”. It also supports multiple mod profiles and multiplayer sessions. And yes, for those of you averse to the light, there's also a dark mode for the UI.

Once installed you'll get a detailed list of all the mods you've downloaded, the name of the author, any other mods that are needed in conjunction, and a status on if new versions or updates are available.

Considering that ConcernedApe has moved on to Haunted Chocolatier, Stardew Valley probably won't be getting any official updates anytime soon. That means that any new content or updates will probably come in the form of mods by the community. However, that doesn't mean that support for the game has ended entirely.

"I have no plans either way," said the developer in a recent interview when asked if Stardew Valley will receive updates after Haunted Chocolatier's dev cycle is finished. "I don’t want to make any promises for more updates, and I also don’t want to say definitively that it’s finished. I think the game is in a very good place as it is, so I don’t think it’s necessary to add more to it. But at the same time, there’s always room for improvement."

Details on Haunted Chocolatier are still scarce as the developer has just started work on it. However, ConcernedApe did share a couple of screenshots of the game as a way to celebrate the new year. The two contrasting images show a spooky manor on a snowy winter night and a schoolbus with the top converted into a vegetable patch.
