Bethesda just launched a new video that brings us more insight into the world of Starfield. Back in August, Bethesda Game Studios design director Emil Pagliarulo introduced us to three locations in Starfield, including the capital of the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, as well as a floating platform where people do fish drugs to get high. Now we're finding out a bit more about the setting with a new video called "The Settled Systems."

The settled systems are in an area of the Milky Way roughly 50 lightyears away from our current solar system. In galactic terms, basically next-door neighbors. The game takes place 20 years after a terrible war between the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective, leading to an uneasy peace by the year 2330.

Even without a major conflict, the settled systems are still a dangerous place. Pirates, mercenaries, anti-social spacers, and "fanatical religious zealots of House Varu" are all floating around waiting to prey on innocent explorers such as yourself. Hopefully, Constellation has decent health insurance.

The video also gave us a look at some of Starfield's concept art. First is a cyberpunk-style city, likely representing the slums of New Atlantis or some other United Colonies planet. The second is a utopian metropolis, perhaps where the upper echelons of New Atlantis right laws for the entire colony. The third is a desert wasteland, likely one of the periphery planets, and finally, we're treated to character art of the pirate, mercenary, and spacer factions.

Starfield is going to be an enormous game with tons of open-worlds to explore and also way more dialog than Skyrim. That's according to Bethesda director Todd Howard himself at Tokyo Game Show last month. He said that not only will there be 300 voice actors for the Japanese localization, but Starfield will also be Bethesda's "largest translation effort ever."

We're still a long way away from November 11, 2022, so expect to see more Starfield info over the course of the next year.
