No, you weren't dreaming. Starfield's extended gameplay footage did indeed reveal that you'll indeed be able to travel to hundreds of star systems and explore thousands of planets. That part about building your own custom ships and being able to fly them between planets? That happened too. It's safe to assume that this will be Bethesda's most ambitious project till date. However there was another feature which was spotted by eagle-eyed fans – one that's now expected in most games.Starfield will have a photo mode, which will allow you to click scenic pictures – or goofy selfies – as you explore the galaxy. The feature was spotted during the gameplay reveal, right at the start when the player scans the Dust Root (2:47). The UI that pops up during the scan has a few prompts at the bottom of the screen, and one of them says "Photo Mode".While photo mode is not exactly a revolutionary feature anymore, the one in Starfield will be the first one to be included in any single-player Bethesda game. Of course, some developers really flesh out their photo mode features, including all types of visual options, character poses and expressions, and other advanced photography options that I wouldn't dare mess with. Considering that it's a first for Bethesda, the devs will no doubt go all-out on their version of photo mode.
We don't really have any details about the game's photo mode, aside from the fact that it exists. Based on all the things Todd Howard told and showed us about Starfield, the game will make quite a canvas for budding video game photographers. Most interestingly, the fact that you can fly your ship around in space means we're going to get some fabulous shots of interstellar travel.

But the crowning jewel was undoubtedly the customisable ship, which you could fly into space battles, and also use to visit and explore thousands of planets.
