Wyvern Gaming recently announced the iris will open for the launch of the Stargate Roleplaying Game Kickstarter campaign on October 6, 2020. The Kickstarter landing Page is already in place, along with the official website. Gear up, Stargate fans, SGC is locking the chevrons in, and you’ll soon be able to live out your Stargate adventures across the universe once again.

Along with having another Stargate show to binge watch, and a hopeful reboot of Stargate Worlds (someone, PLEASE!), the Stargate Roleplaying Game has been closely monitored by Stargate fans for well over a year now. GateWorld is the official website for all your Stargate news, and it’s where you’ll find the best and most Stargate coverage, including the SRG Kickstarter announcement. Let’s pull it all together here.

The official Stargate SG-1 Roleplaying Game Kickstarter campaign announcement says the campaign “will launch on October 6, 2020 (beginning at 2:00 p.m. UTC, which is 10:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern time, 7 a.m. Pacific).” The date and time are confirmed in the Kickstarter Date Announcement video on the Wyvern Gaming YouTube channel. And you can of course sign up to be notified directly once the campaign goes live from the SRG Kickstarter landing page.

GateWorld has a dedicated page describing the SRG that has about all the up-to-date details we know so far on the game. SRG will use the d20 engine as its core frame, just as the original 2003 Stargate SG-1 Role-Playing Game did. GateWorld accurately reports that the new SRG is the second Stargate tabletop roleplaying game to be made, but it is as yet unclear if the two are linked in any way, if the new SRG is simply an updated version of the original, or if it is Wyvern Gaming’s own unique adaptation.

However, the SRG will be set within official Stargate canon, and will introduce a new playable race called the Aturen, who resemble the Nox but “are a younger and less advanced race who have been guided by the Nox in their evolution.” SRG will tell its adventure stories in “seasons” and “episodes”, with the first season set during Season Six of Stargate SG-1, after the events of “Allegiance.”

If you want to step into the wormhole for a deep dive into SRG’s past info, GateWorld has a handy Wyvern Gaming section you can keep track of, and the Stargate Tabletop RPG Coming In 2020 and What Is ‘Stargate Phoenix’? articles will give you plenty more details.
