If you still want to get your hands on that Arwing, you can grab Starlink: Battle for Atlas at Best Buy for just $8.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas initially launched in October of 2018 with huge ambitions. Ubisoft wanted this game to revive the "toys to life" genre of games that would tie video games into playing with real-life toys. Sort of like Skylanders or Lego Dimensions, only with their own brand of cool spaceships.

And since Ubisoft still had that partnership with Nintendo, they decided to add Starfox to the mix. He wasn't really up to much anyway, and it seemed like a good fit.

But then it all sort of went wrong. The wave of kids jumping on a cool new video game with built-in toys just didn't happen. And it wasn't for lack of trying; there were plenty of ads on TV and the web trying to convince kids to get into Starlink, and while there were a few, they typically didn't care about the toys aspect and just bought the game digitally.

Ubisoft announced that they'd stop making the toys back in April, but there's still plenty of stock to be found on store shelves. Case in point: Best Buy has Starlink starter sets complete with Arwing and Fox McCloud for just $7.99.

That’s a hell of a discount when you consider the game initially sold for $59.99. Even more so when you consider that’s normally just the price for the disc and not the associated toys that come along with it.

If you even have a vague interest in Starlink, 8 bucks is definitely a price worth picking it up. Just don’t expect much more in terms of content. The last major update, Crimson Moon, brought a ton of new features like split-screen racing mode, endless horde battles in the Crimson Coliseum, and a bunch of new ships, pilots, and weapons. Nintendo Switch players even got access to the rest of the Star Fox squad, including Peppy, Falco, and Slippy.

But since then it’s been radio silent. Ubisoft has likely moved on from this failed project, but their loss is your gain as Best Buy looks to clear their shelves for the next big thing, whatever that might be.
