Steam Deck is finally set to launch February 25, 2022. Despite concerns about another supply line delay, players will get their hands on the hybrid console in just a few weeks time, as Valve has revealed today. From February 25, anyone who reserved a console back when the announcement was first made will start receiving emails to purchase their own Steam Deck. You'll then have three days to make the order, otherwise your reservation will be passed on to the next person in the queue. Valve says it is aiming to send out order emails once a week, indicating that it will be keeping a tight control on stock in the wake of industry-wide hardware shortages. To save you from continuously refreshing your emails on the big day, they're set to be sent out 10am PST/6pm GMT. If you're not lucky enough to be included in the first batch, you'll have to wait until the following Friday - March 4 - to bag your own Steam Deck.

It remains to be seen if this method keeps consoles in the hands of players rather than the dreaded scalpers, but on paper, this sounds like a much smoother operation than Xbox and PlayStation run. To get hold of their respective next-gen consoles, it's pretty much a free-for-all, as fans scour online for restocks in certain retailers. They seemed to be slightly more available over the holiday season, but speaking from experience, it's back to normal now, with resellers being your best bet to score one anytime soon.

The Steam Deck will start being shipped out February 25, having been revealed last summer. It was initially set to be shipped out in December in time for the holidays, but was later delayed in November due to supply line shortages.
