In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, there are two mines to explore and many different types of ore to find, including gold, silver, mithril, and adamantine. You'll need these ores and more as you progress through the game. Gold is especially useful as it helps you befriend Huang, to who you can sell items for a huge profit.

Since both mines have an enormous 255 floors, finding the most valuable ore and gems is no easy task. We take a look at what you need to know about mine exploration and how to quickly get to the levels you need.

Updated on June 28, 2023, by Branden Lizardi: It's about to be easier than ever to give Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town a try. The popular slice-of-life farming sim game is coming to Xbox Game Pass. Being a few years old now, we're revisiting all of our content on the game, ensuring that everything stays up to date on our current style and formatting standards. It never hurts to double check our information, too. Best of luck in the mines, farmer!

How The Mines Work

Going into the mine, you'll need a hammer to break the rocks and a hoe to dig the floor. You could also take a stack of food, but you may prefer to save your bag space for ore.

The Spring Mine is available for mining all year round, but the Lake Mine is only accessible during the Winter. Both mines work the same way, with each level containing a variety of rocks and a ladder for access up and down.

The ladder's location will be random but does follow certain rules. It will never spawn in the eight blocks immediately surrounding the ladder you came down or spawn on any of the blocks directly next to the wall.

The ladder hits the floor just behind Claire. The exit will not spawn in any of the spots marked with a red cross.

The ladder hits the floor just behind Claire. The exit will not spawn in any of the spots marked with a red cross that surround the location of the entry ladder, nor will it spawn down any edge.

How Pitfalls Work

After descending enough, you'll encounter pitfalls. These are holes in the floor that, when walked over, will drop you down multiple levels at once. Doing so reduces stamina, so watch out. They are hidden, so to avoid falling down a pit when on the floor you need, dig with the hoe to uncover them.

How To Do The Save Game Trick For The Mines

Every time you reach a new floor, save the game. Once you've found the ladder, remember its location and reload the save from when you first entered that level. You can now go straight to the ladder, meaning a quicker descent with less wasted stamina. Repeat this process until you hit the desired level.

How To Unlock The Elevator

After gifting 100 items to the Harvest Goddess, she will reward you with the Elevator. This will appear as an electrical panel next to the entrance of both mines.

For every 50 levels you reach, you can use the Elevator to jump to that depth from the entrance. The options are 50, 100, 150, 200, and 225, respectively. You must have reached that level before it becomes available on the Elevator.

The Spring Mine Rewards

The main resource found in the Spring Mine is ore. From Junk to Mythic Ore, these primarily operate as the needed crafting material to upgrade your tools. There is, however, a selection of rare items that can be found hidden on the various levels of the mine.

Gemstones and Ores

These materials are found throughout most levels and are needed for upgrades and maker production.

Mythic Ore is used to upgrade your Mithril tools to the highest possible level.

Power Berry

Power Berries will increase your maximum stamina. While there are a handful of ways to get them, there's also one hiding in the Spring Mine on level 100. Dig around with the hoe until it's uncovered.

The Harvest Sprite And Goddess Statues

Two decorative statues are hiding in the dirt on certain floors of the Spring Mine. Dig around with the hoe until you find them. After which, they do not reappear. They can be placed on your shelf at home, but do nothing else outside of that.

Travel Stone

The rarest and most valuable item found in the Spring Mine, the Travel Stone enables fast travel via the game map. Found within the rocks on the bottom floor (255), it will only appear after reaching Year 3. Crush rocks with the hammer until you find it.

Tips For The Mines

Farmer in the hot spring in Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town

Lastly, here are some general tips and tricks to make your time in the mines a little easier.

  • Curry Udon is a very affordable way to stock up on food. Both recipes are learned from the Cooking Channel and only require flour and curry powder to make. Each bowl restores 60 stamina.
  • Your Inventory WILL fill up. Keep it as empty as you can before entering, and be prepared to drop the least valuable items to make room, especially if you're looking for specific items.
  • Save before the room you need, as well as once you get there. If it's a rare item that doesn't appear, you can reload the save before that room and try again.

Good luck in the Mines, farmer!
