When it comes to farm life in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, there is a plethora of different crops and plants that you can grow in order to sell, cook, or gift to others. The more you expand your farm and the more items you sell in your Shipping Box, the more varieties that will become available to you.
One of the things you can grow on your farm is different types of mushrooms, however, these aren't grown in tilled soil like most of your other veggies. If you're looking to start growing your own mushrooms rather than relying on random wild harvests, here's what you need to do.
Prerequisite Tasks
First, you need to expand your farm. This can be done by repairing the bridge at the bottom left of your farm, which you can do using either materials or money. Once you have access to the second area, you need to find the Rotted Mushroom Log a bit south from the barn and repair that.
In order to repair the log you need:
- 20x Solid Logs (cut down the trees near the Mushroom Log)
- 30x Clay (obtained from draining puddles with the bucket)
- 40x Flexible Grass (harvest the grass from this second area for this item)
Once repaired, you have somewhere to grow your mushrooms! You can also purchase more Mushroom Logs from Nigel's Handiworks in town. However, a message will pop up explaining that you need mushroom spores to place on the log in order to grow mushrooms.
Growing Mushrooms
In order to grow mushrooms, you'll first need some spores. This means finding a wild harvest of mushrooms, but fortunately, two different kinds grow in the second area of your farm. It just comes down to chance when you will find some, so make sure you check every day. They usually spawn in a set of three clumped together.
Once you find and harvest some mushrooms, be sure to sell them in your Shipping Box. This means that the next day the General Store in Olive Town will now stock Mushroom spores.
Pick up your spores and then head back to your Mushroom Log where you can plant them. After a few days, you will be able to harvest your very own mushrooms. Watering the log is not necessary.
