Yesterday’s State of Play announced several surprises, such as a mecha-based Dino Crisis game from Capcom and a new Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game. And it also confirmed a rumor that had popped up just days ago: Stranger of Paradise got a free demo.

You can now download the Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin demo right now for free on the PlayStation storefront. The demo will be available to all PlayStation users between now and April 19. The game itself arrives on March 18, and those that play the demo will be able to transfer their save files over to the final game when it arrives, but only on the same platform (so no going from the PS4 demo to the final game on PS5).

The demo is only available for PlayStation, so PC players that have pre-ordered Stranger of Paradise on the Epic Games Store will have to patiently wait for the game's official release date.

According to PushSquare, the demo’s file size is roughly 36GB. That’s almost half of what the final game is expected to be, according to the rumored storage requirements.

Square Enix recently released Stranger of Paradise’s PC requirements too, and they might be the most reasonable of any new PC release this year. Unlike Elden Ring, which is calling for a GTX 1070 just to play at 1080p, you can get away with an Nvidia GTX 1660 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. Both RAM and CPU requirements are fairly reasonable too, so even older machines should have no trouble playing Stranger of Paradise, although we expect the game’s visuals to look far better on a newer machine that’s closer to the PS5 in terms of specs.

Even before Stranger of Paradise's release, Square Enix is promising that the hack-and-slash action RPG will receive DLC. The same iterative testing process that was used to develop the game will also be used to make the DLC, so expect to see beta trials from Team Ninja ahead of Stranger of Paradise's first expansion.
