Midtown is the final hub for Stray. It is the largest area the game has to offer, and as a result, it is also packing the most collectables, Memories, and NPCs to interact with. Midtown is where things start ramping up in terms of difficulty - both in terms of puzzles, “combat”, and even secret hunting.

That being said, Stray is, for the most part, a fairly chill adventure, and Midtown doesn’t push any aspect too far and it never veers into the realm of difficulty. A keen eye and an inquisitive mind will get you through most of Midtown, but for everything else, we’ve got you covered.

Updated August 18, 2022: We've added a video guide to this article that shows you the location of all Midtown memories for Stray.

Finding All The Memories

Stray sleeping on a robot

Midtown has a whopping seven Memories to find, and they are incredibly well hidden. There is also a sneaky point of no return that will lock you out of all of them if you fail to find them, forcing a full chapter restart if you aren’t careful.

Where To Find The First Memory

Stray Subway entrance

Your first Memory in Midtown is actually a mandatory one. You will bump into it when you enter the subway at the start of the chapter. One down, six to go.

Where To Find The Second Memory

Your second Memory can be found immediately upon leaving the subway. As you leave, look to your right and you will see a small abode filled with books. Enter, and you will come face to face with your second Memory. Interact with it to claim it.

Where To Find The Third Memory

Stray memory hidden behind a sign

As you walk down the main street in Midtown, you will encounter a bouncer guarding the door to a nightclub. You can’t enter this place yet, but you can claim a nearby Memory. Go down the nearby alley and look to your left. There is a large yellow “arrow” sign near a robot who is sweeping the floor.

Climb the nearby bins and air conditioning units to get to the sign. Tucked away behind the sign is your third memory.

Where To Find The Fourth Memory

Stray barbershop memory

The centre of Midtown is full to the brim with buildings you can enter. One of them is a barbershop, although it is a bit out of the way. To find it, head to the bar (marked with red lights). Turn around, and directly opposite is an open window that leads to the barbershop.

From here, jump onto the sofa and look up. You will see a gap you can squeeze through near a tin of paint. Hop up and you will find your fourth Memory.

Where To Find The Fifth Memory

Stray Cafe memory

Upon leaving the barbershop, head to the nearby cafe (next to the bar). Enter the cafe and go to the washing area at the back of the shop. Climb up and into the ceiling - similar to how you did at the barbershop, and claim your fifth memory.

Where To Find The Sixth Memory

Stray Sentinel Station memory

This memory is very easily missed as you can only access it at a very specific time in Midtown’s story progression. Firstly, you need to obtain the Atomic Battery. This is part of the main quest.

Once you have it, Midtown's equivalent of a Police Station will open. You can find this building at the centre of Midtown, between the cafe and the clothes shop - opposite the hat store. The Memory is the picture of a Sentinel on the wall.

If you progress the story too far after getting the Atomic Battery, you won’t be able to enter this location. Similarly, if you go here too early, the door won’t be open.

Where To Find The Seventh Memory

Stray nightclub dumbwaiter

The seventh and final memory in Midtown can be found in the nightclub you walked by earlier. Once you are inside, go to the bar and hop on the counter behind the bartender. There is a dumbwaiter you can stand on which will take you to a storage room.

In this room is a small table with a bottle resting on top. This is your final memory. To leave, hop back on the dumbwaiter and ride it back to the nightclub’s dance floor.
