Streaming platform Twitch has been the centre of a number of discussions lately, primarily based on the kind of content that streamers are allowed to showcase. The hot tub streams topic was handled fairly well, with the platform creating a separate channel for those interested in it. However some of the biggest names from the hot tub channel took things to another level by streaming ASMR videos that included licking microphones and also farting into them.

While streamers like Amouranth and Indiefoxx were banned for these streams, that didn’t stop popular steamer xQc from criticising them. xQc called for channels that streamed this kind of content to be permanently banned. They accepted that while they themselves were temporarily banned multiple times for various reasons, what Amouranth and Indiefoxx did was a blatant violation of Twitch guidelines, and they did so nonchalantly.

xQc went on to compare their own ban to the fart meta bans using a fast-food analogy. While they themselves were told off for stealing a fry or two, steamers like Amouranth and Indiefoxx have been gorging on entire handfuls and even “robbing the tills”. xQc’s animated expression of this analogy came after they mentioned that this was not “Twitch drama” but a “workplace environment thing”.

After getting banned, Amouranth tweeted saying "1 like = 1 second shorter ban", whilst Indiefoxx said, "Hey @Amouranth wanna go to a spa since we both have the weekend off? I could really use a tongue massage." This suggests that the duo is not taking this ban seriously, which was another thing that xQc pointed out in their criticism. They said that the fact that they have not been permanently banned means that they will continue flouting the rules and make money.

There has been no word yet on whether Amouranth and Indiefoxx’s channels will be back. Despite the controversy, Twitch has had a solid year, breaking the total number of hours viewed record four times. The latest was just last month, when the platform reached over 2.2 billion hours viewed.

The platform is still battling multiple DMCA takedowns by music publishing houses due to streamers using copyrighted music in the background of their streams.
