The popular streamer xQc was recently criticized by some of his followers for promoting what they referred to as “slots for kids.” The content creator has been working with an online casino called Stake for several months now, attracting the ire of his fellow streamers along with a large segment of his fanbase.

Having already streamed himself gambling for over 11 hours, a content creator known as JesseSMFI directed xQc to an online slot machine featuring stuffed animals and silly sound effects called Fluffy in Space. The content creator was at first hesitant, but xQc eventually came around, opening the link provided by JesseSMFI. The online slot machine was quickly found to have a maximum wager of $12.50. While the streamer typically bets hundreds or even thousands of dollars at a time, xQc laid down several bets to the sound of squeaks and squeals.

“Why are they making slots,” JesseSMFI asked. “Who are they catering to here, man? Alright, fucking Minecraft on the first monitor, this on the second. Roll,” the streamer said. “Roll.” Several of those watching at the time were quick to call the online casino “slots for kids.” In response to what he saw, xQc described the online slot machine as “goofy ass dogshit.” He then went on to gamble for two more hours.

The content creator has been at the center of an ongoing debate about gambling for the better part of this year. The contention got started shortly after xQc began accepting gambling sponsorships and handing out promotional codes. The streamer went on to say that he would stop accepting sponsorships from online casinos last year before admitting that he was addicted to gambling. “I’m just easily addicted, so I just shouldn’t gamble,” xQc pointed out. “I still do it. Is that good? No, that’s terrible. That’s an illness. That’s ill. I’m ill. But you know what? I can afford to be ill. I’m lucky.” The streamer later noted that he lost almost $2 million to online casinos.

The streamer soon went back on his promise to stop accepting gambling sponsorships, admitting that his followers have actually gambled away millions of dollars. “It’s not that bad,” xQc said. “$119 million. It’s not crazy. That’s rookie numbers compared to some of these nutjobs.” When criticized by his fanbase, the content creator explained how the money “always comes back somehow.”

The remarks by xQc prompted numerous other streamers to come out against the practice of accepting gambling sponsorships. “A lot of these websites, Stake and all of them, if they have a code, if you are offering a code, that means that Stake is tracking all of your losses and you are getting a percentage of your fanbase's losses,” Hasan explained. “That is quite literally the truth. That is how fucking bad it is. They let you in on it. They let you in on the losses of your fucking fanbase.”
