Street Fighter is the legendary fighting game franchise made by Capcom that kicked off the tournament fighter genre. While the series did start in 1987 with Street Fighter, or Fighting Street as it was called on the TurboGrafx 16, the series didn’t gain attention until 1991’s Street Fighter 2 The World Warrior. 14 Ryu
The original street fighter - Ryu is always looking for the next fight. He is constantly trying to suppress the Satsui no Hado seal within him. In some scenarios, Ryu gives in to the Satsui no Hado becomes Evil Ryu. Ryu is your typical walk into the sunset, tortured soul type.

Ken is a family man as well as being Ryu’s best friend and rival. The red cyclone! Zangief is a 400-pound pro wrestler who practices his wrestling techniques by wrangling with bears in the wild. Zangief is very patriotic and usually fights for the honor of the Soviet Union. Being over 7 feet tall, he is one of the tallest world warriors.

6 Blanka
While Blanka looks like a wild animal, he is a man named Jimmy. He was in a plane crash and was mutated by the experience which is how he inherited his green skin and orange hair. He was left to survive in the Amazonian rainforest alone until he decided to leave and fight Shadaloo. In his Street Fighter 2 ending, he is seen finally reuniting with his mother.

Vega, or Balrog, depending on where you live, is a matador who is extremely conscious of his looks. Starting as an unplayable boss in Street Fighter 2, he wears a mask and claw to protect his face. He works under M. Bison as his bodyguard and has a disdain for anything that isn’t beautiful.

2 M. Bison (Dictator)
M. Bison, or Vega depending on where you reside, is the big baddie of the series. Most character’s backstories are intertwined with Bison in some way or another. Due to Ryu having the Satsui no Hado sealed in within him, M. Bison wishes to brainwash Ryu and make him a member of Shadaloo. He is infused with Psycho Power and constantly clones his body - which is an excellent excuse to have him come back game after game.

1 Akuma
Known as Gouki in Japan, Akuma is consumed with the Satsui no Hado. His first appearance was as a secret boss in Street Fighter 2 Turbo ane is brother to the mentor of Ryu and Ken, Gouken. In the events of Street Fighter 4, he became one with the Satsui no Hado, turning him in the demon known as Oni. Although he is ruthless, he refuses to fight someone incapable of defending themselves.
