A new live-action adaptation of a video game is in the works, as a Street Fighter TV show has been announced. The most exciting part of the announcement is that it will be produced by the team who made the incredible Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist fan series.

The Street Fighter TV series is being developed by a company called Entertainment One. Mark Gordan (the President of Entertainment One) is backing the project, while the team behind Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist will act as the Executive Producers on the project.

The story of the series will focus on the events of Street Fighter II, rather than the first game in the series. The show will have four protagonists; Ryu, Chun-Li, Guile, and Ken. The four of them are all hunting M. Bison, who is the mysterious leader of the Shadaloo crime organization. This confirms that at least five of the Street Fighter cast members will be showing up, but it's a safe bet that the rest of the cast of Street Fighter II will be making an appearance as well.

The Street Fighter franchise hasn't had the best luck with live-action franchises. The Street Fighter movie of the early '90s was panned at the time, though it has since earned a reputation similar to that of The Room, where people consider it to be so bad that it's good. This was followed by Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, which somehow managed to be way worse.

By far the best live-action adaptation of Street Fighter was the Assassin's Fist series. This started out as a fan project that eventually became endorsed by Capcom and the creators of the Street Fighter series. Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist only followed the training of Ryu & Ken, so it will be exciting to see the producers take on the other members of the Street Fighter cast.

The presence of the team behind Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist offers hope that this project will break the trend and give Street Fighter the awesome live-action adaptation that it so rightly deserves.
