If you’re an experienced fighting game player who’s been following the genre for some years now, you’ll know how attached you can get to a certain character. Maybe you’ve become known for your use of a particular fighter, and you’ve stuck with them through thick and thin. Through nerfs, buffs and balance patches.

If that’s the case, you’ll completely empathise with the Blanka faithful. When the electrically-charged wild man was missing from the launch of Street Fighter V, it was a darn sad day. Granted, lots of things were absent from the game on launch, but that doesn’t make it okay. We’ve waited impatiently for the Street Fighter stalwart to make his return, and now he finally has. You do not want to miss his magnificent new costume.

Blanka rejoined the roster on February 20, as part of the Season 3 Character Pass. He’s the second of six fighters to be added to the cast this year, as Rock Paper Shotgun reports, with Sagat, Cody and the all-new G set to arrive in the coming months. As Capcom’s gameplay trailer demonstrates, Blanka is the same vicious feral fighter he’s always been, fully equipped with his trademark spins, claw rakes and electrocution moves.

He’s also had some updates to his arsenal, of course. Before we get into those, however, you need to know that he comes with this new costume:

Yep. That’s a real thing. Now that we’ve all decided on the Blanka costume we’re going to be wearing (his classic outfit is also available, but why bother?), what’s new when it comes to actually playing him?

Capcom Unity have provided a neat little roundup of the additions to Blanka’s moveset. Suffice to say, everything sounds great for fans of the Brazilian brawler. He now has a command grab, Wild Hunt, which will see him slash at his opponent before flinging them away from him. This is sure to be useful in allowing him options, as will his V-Skill Coward Crouch, which can avoid projectiles and be followed up with a couple of different options. Those are some powerful sounding V-Triggers, too.

In short, Street Fighter V’s Blanka is looking aggressive, tricky and unpredictable, which will be nothing new to Street Fighter fans. He’s available right now, either individually (at $5.99) or as a part of the Character Pass. If you happen to have 100,000 Fight Money, you can buy him that way too.
