Estel is finally getting the respect she deserves. Publisher Dotemu has shared a new video from the upcoming Mr. X Nightmare DLC for Streets of Rage 4 today and Estel is looking absolutely killer. Taking full advantage of the speed and flow of SOR4's combat system, she looks to pack a serious punch when it comes to dealing with multiple enemies.
Her basic combo will be familiar to anyone that has beaten the main game, but her special moves are where things start to get interesting. Players will be able to lob grenades both on the ground and in the air and mix that up with a diving punch that connects with multiple enemies. Estel is also packing some kind of ground slam attack that pushes out a shockwave. It even distorts the audio for a brief second.
This video seems to be in a very polished state, so I wouldn't be surprised if this DLC ends up releasing in the summer. I've been itching to get back into Streets of Rage 4 (my personal game of the year for 2020), so I obviously cannot wait. We just need to figure out who the next two characters are. My money is on Max and Shiva.
Revealed earlier this month, Mr. X Nightmare will be adding new characters, a new difficulty mode, and a horde-styled challenge mode to Streets of Rage 4. There may be more in store than meets the eye, which could end up turning this retro revival brawler into the best best-em-up ever.
