The term "warrior" can mean a lot of different things. In role-playing games, Warriors can also be called Fighters, Thieves, or Barbarians, and that's just to name a few. Every RPG seems to have a different version of this class, which is one of the oldest recognized characters in the world of RPGs.

It's not just aspiring warriors that seek out Thorvald's advice. Many adventurers have journeyed to the Fremennik Isles to seek his counsel and quests. He's a member of the council of elders, a position he earned through his battle prowess.

One of the quests he oversees is to challenge a mysterious figure known as  Koschei the Deathless. He would have a place on this list, except that upon his defeat, Torvald replaces him.

9 Drizzt Do'Urden, Baldur's Gate Franchise

via: dnd.wizards.com

Drizzt makes an appearance in every chapter of the Baldur's Gate saga in one way or another, although there hasn't been an appearance of him in the most recent third installment. This might be because it's possible the player killed him but depending on the storyline you craft, that might not be the case. In fact, he's happy to help you slay vampires in Baldur's Gate 2 if you're a Good Alignment and meet him at the right time.

Officially, Drizzt is a Fighter/Ranger multiclass, and his journey from the ways of the subterranean Drow into the light is a compelling one that takes up a series of books written by R. A. Salvatore.

7 Warrior of Light, Final Fantasy Franchise

Final Fantasy Dissidia - Warrior of Light from the original Final Fantasy

Here's a character that calls back to a classic that fans still cite as one of the most powerful warriors from an RPG game. The Warriors of Light were the player characters from the original Final Fantasy, an idea that's been revived in the more recent installments.

As the player character, you are the Warrior of Light and the hero at the end of the story. Your victory comes with an impressive title that includes names like the Champion of Eorzea, the Warrior of Warriors, the Slayer of Gods, the Liberator, the Bringer of Light, and the Warrior of Darkness, just to name a few.

He's a swordsman who uses the balance and speed of the air itself against his foes, and he's also one of the most powerful warrior champions available to players in the League of Legends.

Yasuo's nickname comes from his tragic past. Someone erroneously accused him of murdering his master, and his own brother was responsible for bringing him to justice. Pitted against each other, Yasuo, sadly, had to slay Yone in self-defense. Then, he fled his homeland of Ionia in search of redemption and understanding.

3 Commander Shepard - Mass Effect

Commander Shepard Mass Effect 1

Like many other warriors on this list, Commander Shepard is the player character, so we understand their abilities firsthand. Many fans consider "FemmeShep" as the canon version of the character but there's also a male counterpart.

Mass Effect stands out in a world dominated by fantasy-based RPG games. It has a science-fiction basis along with the added realism of a military operation. Shepard is a graduate of the N7 program, an elite military training operation that specializes in hunting and killing Reapers. Their character is also the first human Spectre.

1 Ciri, The Witcher

Ciri from The Witcher, holding a sword

There's still a lot of ongoing debate as to what The Witcher actually is, with classes like Fighter, Cleric, or even Sorcerer in the mix. Either way, the franchise is an RPG game, and it seems that not every Witcher is the same.

Ciri is a talented magic user, and her trainers are some of the most powerful mages in the lore, but she's also has a lot of talent for close combat with blades. Her talent with both is what makes her so dangerous, a true Fighter/Mage multiclass, and therefore a Warrior.
