Don't Steal This Stylish New Persona 5 Figure

The Persona figure was designed by popular Japanese figurine manufacturer Souyokusha and is on display at the Miyazawa Mokei Autumn Exhibition 2019.

"Looking cool, Joker!" is the famous catchphrase from everyone's favorite sleep-monitoring cat, Morgana. It's also something one might say when they get a glimpse of this brand new Persona 5 figure, featuring everyone's favorite nameless protagonist in his signature school uniform. Looking cool, indeed.

Three images of this stylish new figure first surfaced on Tuesday, November 19, via Twitter, courtesy of the English account of AmiAmi, the largest online figure and hobby store in Japan. According to the tweet's short description of the product, the figure was designed by popular Japanese figurine manufacturer Souyokusha and is on display at the recent Miyazawa Mokei Autumn Exhibition 2019. This event is a seasonal exhibition featuring the latest Miyazawa Mokei figurines and plastic models of popular and beloved anime and video game characters, such as Izuku "Deku" Midoriya from My Hero Academia, Leafa/Suguha from Sword Art Online, and Edelgard von Hresvelg from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

The figurine displays the Persona 5 protagonist —whose name is up to the discretion of the player in the game but goes by "Ren Amamiya" in the accompanying anime — wearing plaid pants, a white turtleneck, and a black blazer — otherwise known as the highly recognizable Shujin Academy uniform. He is casually posed adjusting his glasses, foot up on a ledge of his school chair, and leaning against his infamous school desk where he hid his cat and materials to make infiltration tools for an entire year. Unfortunately, his desk appears empty; but perhaps Morgana is hiding in the black bookbag that's hanging off of his desk? Who knows...

The figure is currently not on sale at the moment, and no official release date has been announced. However, given its showcase at the Miyazawa Mokei Exhibition, it's likely this figure will be released sometime in the near future on AmiAmi's and Souyokusha's websites.

Though it's a little sad that the figurine isn't currently on sale, you can at least be consoled by the fact that you'll probably be able to get your hands on your own Shujin Academy uniform-wearing Joker figure before Persona 5: The Royal is officially released in the West. Spring 2020 can't come soon enough!
