Subnautica developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment has revealed a brand new title it has in development called Moonbreaker, separate from the Subnautica universe and launching in Early Access on September 29 next month.

The reveal trailer for Moonbreaker was introduced by Mistborn creator and best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, showcasing turn-based gameplay with wonderfully colorful miniature figures. The universe itself will be created Sanderson, will feature turn-based competitive gameplay, and will offer a "variety of gameplay experiences." Moonbreaker also has an incredibly deep customisation system, letting players collect miniature figures, choose between them, and paint them to their own specifications to use in battle.

Unknown Worlds also revealed in a press release shared after the showcase that Moonbreaker was "born out of a natural passion for tabletop gaming." Moonbreaker's gameplay experiences will apparently cater to a variety of different gamers, but it's primarily designed to appeal to fans of tabletop games and collectible card games. The game will include over 50 different Units to customise upon the Early Access launch, sorted into three different classes called Captains, Crew, and Assists.

Unknown Worlds announced the reveal earlier this month, in which it promised that it would show off a new "turn-based, sci-fi strategy game" for fans to get excited for. For those concerned that this new title means that we'll be waiting a while for a potential Subnautica 2, a developer over at Unknown Worlds has already reassured fans that a second team is working on Moonbreaker and that the "next game in the Subnautica universe" is being worked on at the same time.

Moonbreaker will launch in Early Access on September 29 next month, exclusively via Steam. There will also be a Steam playtest for those interested a little bit before release, and Unknown Worlds does explain that more information will be given to fans closer to the time. There's also an official website that has just gone live where you can find more information about the game and when you can get your hands on it.
