Sucker Punch, the development team behind such classic series as Infamous and Sly Cooper, has issued a tweet wishing fans and gamers a happy holiday.
The holiday-themed tweet can be seen below. It shows artwork of various characters from different Sucker Punch-developed titles throughout the years.
The artwork shows Ghost of Tsushima's protagonist being welcomed to a party full of Sucker Punch characters. Composed by someone at Sucker Punch, from left to right, the characters pictured are: Fetch and Delsin Rowe from Infamous Second Son, Rocket from Rocket: Robot on Wheels, Sakai from the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima, the titular Sly Cooper from the Sly Cooper franchise, and Cole MacGrath from the first Infamous entry.
Rocket: Robot on Wheels is actually Sucker Punch's first game. It was released in 1999 on the Nintendo 64, despite later becoming a Sony-exclusive developer with the Sly Cooper and Infamous series, as well as 2020's Ghost of Tsushima.
Sucker Punch's latest title was shown during last week's Game Awards with a trailer that revealed some plot details from Ghost of Tsushima. In specific, the trailer showed that the game's protagonist, the ghost, is a man who was thought to be dead over the land of Japan. Overall, the trailer proves Sucker Punch's maturity as a developer. The developer has gone from the cartoonish Sly Cooper to the superhero/fantasy setting of Infamous to the now grittier world of Ghost of Tsushima. Hopefully, it will continue Sucker Punch's trend of critically well-received titles.
Sucker Punch is a very celebrated developer among those developing Sony exclusives. Its games have been well-received, on average, with Infamous remaining one of the PlayStation 3's best exclusives. Its formula had later been polished by Infamous Second Son, though the developer has now moved on to next year's PS4-exclusive Ghost of Tsushima.
However, this isn't to say that a new Infamous should be out of the cards. It was one of the PS3's killer apps and spawned an early hit on the PS4. It would definitely be interesting to see how an installment would look on the PS5.
Ghost of Tsushima is set to release in the second or third quarter of 2020.
