2021 was a pretty different year for the gaming industry. One labeled as quiet by many as a lot of the major titles slated to launch across the 12-month period were pushed due to the pandemic and developers trying to work together remotely. It would appear the delays brought about by the pandemic have been more extensive to some studios than others, as some games we thought might be here now won't arrive until 2023.

You can now add Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to that list. The spiritual successor to the Arkham games was meant to be here before the end of 2022. However, developer Rocksteady's creative director Sefton Hill has revealed Harley Quinn and the gang will not be trying to take down an evil Superman until at least Spring 2023.

“I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together,” Hill's tweet reads. It's coupled with a short clip of some of the game's core characters looking exasperated. As Hill puts it though, if the last few years have taught devs and players alike anything, it's better to wait a few more months for a great game than to rush and launch one with problems and issues.

There is some good news for DC fans, though. Even though Kill The Justice League now won't be here for at least another year, Gotham Knights is still on track to be here before the end of 2022. In fact, WB Games recently revealed a firm release date for the multiplayer game. There's every chance that can change, of course, but the studio appears to be pretty confident that we will be getting at least one Batman-based game before the holidays.

Kill The Justice League is obviously a very ambitious project and has been on the list of a lot of people's most-anticipated games for a very long time now. While Rocksteady may have fallen into the trap of revealing a game a little too early, at least it isn't being pressured into launching it early too. What we've seen of Suicide Squad so far makes it seem like it can be a truly terrific game. If a delay or two makes that happen, then so be it.
