It’s a joyous occasion when an indie game reaches its Kickstarter goal and goes on to be a success with gamers. However, reaching that goal within 3 hours is no small feat, and is the story belonging to Japanese gaming studio Rabbit & Bear Studios.

The studio’s kickstarter pledge to develop role-playing campaign Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Hyaku Eiyūden) managed to reach its target of $509,713 within the first 3 hours of its Monday launch. The PC game fund has now reached $906,199, with a stretch goal of $1million to release it on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. Rabbit & Bear Studios have set Eiyuden Chronicle’s release for Fall 2022, and even noted that it may be released in time to feature on a next-gen Nintendo console, if such a thing is in the making.

Supporters of the Kickstarter campaign will receive various rewards that include a copy of the game, sigil button, physical copy of the soundtrack, vinyl soundtrack, t-shirt, artbook, figures, and other personalized rewards. The campaign came complete with a launch video from Rabbit and Bear Studios, that featured a parody of Eiyuden Chronicle’s gameplay featuring members of the team in an uplifting and comical performance.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is set within a region of Allraan, home to humans, beastmen, elves and desert people. Fueled by greed, The Galdean Empire searches for a technology to enhance the power of magical objects known as rune-lenses, that will in turn, strengthen the Empire’s power. The impending war, caused by The Galdean Empire’s quest for power, inevitably touches the lives of Seign Kesling, a young imperial officer, and Nowa, a village boy. Both characters form an unlikely friendship and are unexpectedly brought into the chaos that surrounds them, forcing them to question their morals.

The Eiyuden team features the first collaboration between Yoshitaka Murayama (Suikoden I, Suikoden II) and Junko Kawano (Suikoden I, Suikoden IV) in 25 years, with Murayama taking on the role as game designer with Kawano in the character design chair. Rabbit and Bear Studios also features talented creators who have worked on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and the Golden Sun series.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ Kickstarter will run until August 28.
