Summer Game Fest founder and host Geoff Keighley decided to set players' expectations in advance, saying the show is "primarily focused on stuff that is announced" rather than a bunch of world premiers you might've hoped for.

Returning this Thursday, June 9, Summer Game Fest will feature "around an hour and a half to two hours" of upcoming games footage, revealed Keighly during a Twitter Spaces audio session (thanks, VGC). The stream will include both, triple-A "massive games" and indie projects by smaller teams. Guest appearances, including Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, are also on the table.

In terms of bombshells, comparable to Elden Ring's reveal last year, Geoff Keighley suggested reining in your expectations, as it's impossible to raise the bar every time. "What I would say is that a lot of the games we're going to show you are [already] announced, [but will] show new content to you," he said. "We're doing some good stuff for you, but definitely manage your expectations in terms of the megaton shocks that you're expecting."

As an illustration of what's to come, Keighley dropped several names, like The Callisto Protocol, Gotham Knights, Fortnite, and Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course. Some titles will feature uncut gameplay debut for the audience, despite the fact they're already technically revealed.

Of course, that "primarily focused" statement doesn't mean we won't see any new game announcements at all during the show. For one, Keighley just hinted at a potential reveal on his Twitter account, saying, "there's nothing like the feeling of seeing a good world premiere arrive in your inbox." He also confirmed that Summer Game Fest will feature "a couple of new game announcements [...] and hopefully some surprises if everything holds." Maybe we've even got to see Death Stranding's sequel, which was already leaked by Norman Reedus a couple of weeks ago.
