Super Girl Gamer Pro, a competitive video game series that aims to support women in gaming, will conclude its 2020 season with an online championship weekend that will include a $30,000 prize pool for the top gamers in Hearthstone, CS:GO, and League of Legends.

Scheduled for October 2-4, the finals will close nine weeks of online Qualifier Series competitions that began in July. The last round of qualifiers is scheduled for this weekend, September 4-6. Then, the top four Counter-Strike teams, top four League of Legends teams, and top eight Hearthstone players will head to the finals.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Championship has been held online and is being streamed live on Twitch and Facebook Gaming. Now in its fourth year, the series is not only supported by the top female players, but also by female broadcast talent, tournament organizers, and production teams.

According to SGGP esports director Amanda Ball, the series mission is “to create a safe environment that encourages and empowers women to participate in competitive gaming and to help facilitate a future where women and men have equal opportunities within esports and the gaming industry as a whole.”

Overall, pro esports has been male-dominated. Kim "Geguri" Se-yeon, who signed with the Overwatch League's Shanghai Dragons in 2018, is the only female player in the league. SGGP, however, reports that in the past four years the situation has improved with many more women participating in tournaments, especially in CS:GO, League of Legends and Call of Duty's Warzone.

Super Girl Pro also hosts Super Girl Surf Pro, the largest women’s surf contest in the world, Super Girl Skate Pro, a major all-women’s skateboarding event, and Super Girl Snow Pro, the world’s only all-female snowboarding competition.

The finals will take place in conjunction with the Super Girl Pro Festival in Oceanside, California, which will feature free concerts, a female skateboarding contest, a female DJ competition, a celebrity surf invitational, and much more.
