Mamma mia! Super Mario 3D All Stars is already selling out at various retailers and some customers are reportedly scratching their heads at sudden cancellations.

Due to the limited number of copies being made available by Nintendo, Super Mario 3D All-Stars has been a top seller. On Amazon, it became the #2 best selling game of the year just four days after its announcement. Twisted Voxel found that you can no longer buy the game on Amazon as it is currently unavailable. The retailer says, "We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

Even if you've pre-ordered the game, there is a chance your order may be canceled in the future, especially if you bought Super Mario 3D All-Stars with a smaller outlet. Geobros on ResetEra claims that his order from the UK-located Base.com was canceled. He received an email that stated that their allocation was "woefully short" and that the company will not be able to fulfill the order on the day of release. Base has reportedly made the decision to cancel all orders for the game.

Hopefully, we won't see this become a trend like how Special and Collectors Edition orders for Ghost of Tsushima were canceled by Best Buy earlier this year.

This story gets even more frustrating when you consider that Nintendo will unnecessarily cease to sell Super Mario 3D All-Stars, physically AND digitally on March 31, 2021. It's a bold move from the Big N, who is becoming ever more stringent on releasing its older content on newer platforms. Currently, there is no way to play Nintendo 64, GameCube, or Wii titles on the Nintendo Switch, unless select games, like Turok, have been remastered for the platform. Only a few NES and SNES titles are available through the Switch Online service.

While the release strategy is completely bizarre, the collection seems to be an impressive celebration of the 3D Mario games we know and love. It will come with higher resolution textures, 16:9 on Sunshine and Galaxy, and the wonderful soundtracks will be available to enjoy within the collection itself.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars, if you're able to snag a copy, will be available on September 18.
