The Super Mario Bros. Movie premiered in the US yesterday, which can only mean one thing: Mario-inspired red carpet looks. And two cast members definitely understood the assignment, with Jack Black and Anya Taylor-Joy proudly sporting outfits representing their characters.

Anya's is the most obvious at first, as she boasts a bright pink jumpsuit very reminiscent of Princess Peach's in Mario Kart. But as soon as Jack turned around, his cosplay became the most eye-catching by far, as his suit is decked out with Bowser's spikes across the back.

Anya rocked regal dresses during the press tour for the Mario movie too, so it's not surprising to see her give it her all on the red carpet. As for Jack, I don't think many of us could turn down the opportunity to nab a custom suit jacket with spikes poking out.

The Mario Bros. themselves didn't disappoint, with Chris Pratt and Charlie Day subtly representing their own characters in red and green suits.

But the real star of the show has to be the only actor who didn't get the memo: Seth Rogen. As you can see in the snaps from the event, there's not a trace of anything Donkey Kong related on him. There are no Mario references to be found here at all, just straight to business. This is despite, as others have highlighted, his character probably being the easiest to incorporate into a red carpet look. Like, seriously DK already wears a tie.

For the rest of us, the Mario movie drops on April 5, this coming Wednesday. The reception from fans who got in early is pretty good so far, but it remains to be seen what the rest of us think of Illumination's take on the Mario world.
