Mario and his brother, Luigi, are an undeniable powerhouse duo. As a matter of fact, several of the best games that they star in are titled "Super Mario Bros.," perfectly encapsulating the dynamic between the two brothers.

However, all is not sunshine and rainbows when it comes to brotherly relations between Mario and Luigi. There have been several instances where the two were downright unfriendly toward each other. And after such a long history, it's hardly surprising. Read on if you want to know about the worst things Mario and Luigi have done to each other.

10 Mario To Luigi: Pursued Princess Daisy

It is a currently accepted notion that Princess Daisy is to Luigi what Princess Peach is to Mario. However, that didn't stop Mario from overstepping his bounds early on in Daisy's gaming history. In Super Mario Land, Mario goes on a quest to rescue Princess Daisy. And in terms of video game speak, it's quite apparent what that means. Mario clearly encroached on Luigi's romantic interest. There's no telling how that affected their brotherly relationship afterwards.

9 Luigi To Mario: Never Taught Him To Jump Higher

Mario might be the star of the franchise, but everyone knows that Luigi has got him beat when it comes to jumping. Both brothers leap inhumanly high, but Luigi is known for having higher bounds than Mario. It's an abysmal shame that Luigi never coached Mario in utilizing the full extent of his jump. You would think the two plumbing relatives would want to help each other out when it comes to techniques that could potentially save their lives.

8 Mario To Luigi: Got Into A Heated Argument

Animated cartoons have shown the brothers get into heated arguments over the tiniest of things. In one such moment, Mario and Luigi actually get into a physical scuffle, which ends with Mario furiously stating he wished he never even had a brother.

Granted, every sibling will sometimes argue. But that statement is a whole new level of cold. Those are fighting words. And odds are even more raucous debates have taken place over the years that viewers and players aren't privy to.

7 Luigi To Mario: Only Helped His Brother For Money

Apparently, Luigi is the more mercenary of the two plumbers. Whereas Mario is frequently shown as having noble rescues as a motivation behind his adventures, Luigi is portrayed as being influenced by money. The carrot dangling in front of Mario is usually Princess Peach; Luigi's carrot is a pile of shiny, gold coins. This causes the average Mario fan to wonder to what extent Luigi will act based on how much money is thrown his way. He could potentially bring Mario down.

6 Mario To Luigi: Set Him Up As A Damsel In Distress

Luigi Being Scared by a ghost

All too often, Princess Peach is treated as a bargaining tool or a hostage in Bowser and Mario's never-ending war. And unfortunately for Luigi, he's set up for a similar fate. Mario's hall of villains looking to enact revenge for Mario's escapades can seek out Luigi as a damsel in distress in place of Princess Peach. It's nice that Peach could get a vacation from being held captive, but unlucky for Luigi that he is next in line. Mario should consider setting up an apology fund for every time his friends get kidnapped because of his feuds.

5 Luigi To Mario: Secretly Pined For Princess Peach

Mario is not the only one who has overstepped his bounds when it comes to his brother's love life. Luigi has shown marked interest in Princess Peach, just as Mario did with Daisy. In Mario Power Tennis, when Princess Peach gets a victory, she'll blow a kiss Luigi's way. This simple romantic gesture floors Luigi, literally. He faints from the power of this air kiss. Is it possible that Luigi has been harboring a secret crush on Peach? The bigger question is whether or not Mario knows.

4 Mario To Luigi: Forced Him Into A Haunted Mansion

Mario frequently places himself in dangerous situations. (That's part of his appeal to gamers; Mario games would be boring otherwise.) However, Mario's insistence on continuing these adventures eventually gets Luigi into trouble. It's apparent that Luigi would not be traipsing through Bowser's dungeons, navigating haunted mansions, or hopping through deadly woods if not for his wayward brother. Mario is responsible for putting Luigi's life in danger.

3 Luigi To Mario: Let Fear Overpower Brotherly Love

If one thing can be said about Mario in regards to his relationship with Luigi, it's that he will go to any lengths to help his green-capped brother out of trouble. The same cannot be said for Luigi.

This knobby-kneed plumber is filled with fright. Players can see that Luigi has to force himself to rescue his brother when the need arises. Fear more than brotherly affection motivates Luigi.

2 Mario To Luigi: Steals All The Limelight

Poor Luigi has been shunted aside in favor of Mario's stardom in nearly every Mario game in the franchise. After all, it's Super Mario Brothers, not Super Luigi Brothers. Mario steals the limelight at every opportunity he can get, refusing to even share a bit of it with his brother. Maybe if Luigi got to feel the adoration of the masses more often, he'd be more inclined to be brave during adventures.

1 Luigi To Mario: Relaxes During Mario's Ordeals

Mario has encountered some terrifying bosses and events over the course of his life. Some of these occurrences could potentially end the Mushroom Kingdom. But even though thousands of lives might be at stake, Luigi often sits on his backside, letting Mario do all the work to save the day. Luigi is seen at his leisure while Mario triple-jumps, backflips, and slides his way through danger.
