It seems that the Nintendo fans love laying pipes more than anyone imagined, as Super Mario Maker 2 has remained in the number one spot in the UK sales charts for the third consecutive week.

Super Mario Maker 2 debuted at the number one spot during its first week of sales, where it faced stiff competition from Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, F1 2019, and Judgment. Moreover, the Switch exclusive maintained its spot in the second week of sales, with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled maintaining its position in second place.

According to GameIndustry.bizSuper Mario Maker 2 has retained its position on the top of the UK sales charts for the third week in a row. Similarly, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is still holding on to second place.

It's likely that Super Mario Maker 2 has only retained its position due to a lack of competition, as the only major release in the past week to break the charts is Dragon Quest Builders 2, which entered at number 5. As indicated by our review, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a great action RPG that features the creative building of Minecraft, but it seems that the allure of the Dragon Quest series cannot hope to match that of Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom pals.

The remainder of the UK sales charts is mostly unchanged. F1 2019 holds third place, while Mario Kart 8: Deluxe holds the fourth place. As well, Grand Theft Auto V holds the sixth place, Mortal Kombat 11 holds the seventh place, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate holds the eighth place, Red Dead Redemption 2 holds the ninth place, and FIFA 19 holds the tenth place. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild briefly re-entered the charts last week, but it has since been pushed out.

It's going to be difficult for Super Mario Maker 2 to maintain its position for much longer, as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order is due to be released on July 19, while Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Wolfenstein: Youngblood are due to be released on July 26. The competition in the sales charts is about to get a lot stiffer and it's unlikely that Mario will keep his grip on the top spot for much longer.

Super Mario Maker 2 is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
