Nintendo’s characters from the Mario franchise are simply iconic and memorable. Starting off with the plumber with the red hat, Mario is arguably the most popular video game icon to date. Along the way, he would get other friends such as his twin brother Luigi, a green dinosaur named Yoshi, and the beautiful Princess Peach.

Princess Peach made a name for herself as gaming’s first lady. She is beautiful, kind, and one of Mario’s love interests (the first being Pauline from the original Donkey Kong). Peach is the one who gets stolen by Bowser and as a reward, she would either bake Mario a cake or give him a kiss. Despite being a damsel-in-distress, Peach is one of the most popular Nintendo characters and has a huge fanbase.

However, there are at times where we can’t help but question the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. Don’t worry, we are not hating on Princess Peach. Sometimes there are some questions about her that do not make logical sense. For instance, what’s her royal family bloodline like, or how is she able to be strong in the Smash Bros. series but pretty weak in the main games?

In the end, we are very curious about the lovely princess from the Mushroom Kingdom and it would be awesome if these random occurrences involving her have some sort of reason. Because no matter what, Peach will always steal our hearts and stars. Here are twenty things about Princess Peach that do not make sense!

20 Is She That Vicious?

via: legoguy9875.deviantart.com

Peach might look sweet and innocent, but the idea of her getting stolen for Mario to rescue her is a bit questionable. Is she thankful that he is always there for her? Absolutely, but Peach certainly knows how to get herself stolen just for Mario to come rescue her.

Does she really enjoy Mario nearly being hurt by Bowser?

Whether she is truly sadistic or not, it is tough for Mario to always go through different and dangerous worlds to find Peach and save her. Hopefully, that cake she will bake will be scrumptious for Mario to enjoy.

19 She's A Pacifist, Has A Dungeon

via: mario.wikia.com

Peach is a very kind, modest, and gentle princess. She seems to be a pacifist who does not look like the type of ruler to have prisoners, right? Well, that’s what we thought until we realize that she has a dungeon. The thought of it is unsettling and disturbing at best.

We don’t know if Peach has a dark side where prisoners are given no mercy if they were imprisoned. Then again, her ancestors might have used it in the past, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if there were prisoners before her reign of the Mushroom Kingdom. Let’s hope that Peach actually never uses the dungeon.

18 Does Not Show The Signs

via: athenawrym.deviantart.com

Even though it’s a staple in the Mario franchise, we feel bad for Peach whenever she gets stolen. The idea of having to wait for quite some time to be saved is one of the most devastating things about being a princess. There have been theories about her mental state and one of them is having Stockholm Syndrome.

Despite that, she shows no evidence of having it. She clearly doesn’t seem to be happy whenever she is stolen by Bowser and is shown to be in relief whenever Mario is in her sights. Plus, the thought of Peach having feelings for Bowser is just gross.

17 Where Is She?

via: destructoid.com

We can all simply agree that the Super Mario Bros. live-action movie is a total piece of garbage. The plot does not make sense, the actors, while great ones, could not capture our hearts like the video game characters themselves, and the effects were just so bad.

Princess Peach being absent made us extremely curious. Instead, Daisy is in the movie. Having her in the movie is not an issue, but without Princess Peach, then what is the point of having a movie without her being involved? Perhaps Peach knew the movie was awful so she backed away from the project.

16 She Has A Net Worth?

via: mtv.co.uk

In the real world, celebrities have a net worth, which is what they own thanks to their well-known name. Wouldn’t you know it, Princess Peach, despite not being an actual person in our world, has her own net worth. According to Forbes, she has been ranked #15 in 2007 for having a net worth of $1.3 million!

For a fictional princess, that is an incredibly high amount!

It also is a crazy fact about how a princess like her is even qualified for it, but she is one of the richest fictional characters. Maybe her net worth has increased over the past ten years?

15 That's Not Her Name

via: suppermariobroth.com

Nintendo characters making cameos are very common, and Princess Peach is no exception. She has appeared in Link’s Awakening in a photo, but as we can see, her name is labeled as Christine. It is a nice Easter egg, but wouldn’t it be more convenient to just call her Peach?

It would be strange for those who played Link’s Awakening see the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, but not get the reference at all. Since it is an Easter egg, the picture of Peach is there just for fun. Perhaps if Link made an appearance in Mario, then he would be named Zelda for the laughs.

14 Is It Magic?

via: mariowiki.com

In most of the Mario games, Peach is usually presented in the beginning with a letter to Mario inviting him to her castle. As usual, the cake is not a lie. The confusion for us regarding Peach’s letters has to do with Super Mario Galaxy. After being taken from Bowser, we see Toad having mail to us as either Mario or Luigi from Peach herself.

Just how did Peach manage to send those letters while she’s captured?

Having a lot of 1-Ups are nice, but Peach being able to write letters and have them send off without trouble is concerning.

13 Just Walk Away Instead

via: youtube.com

Peach really has a bad streak when it comes to Bowser. Not only does he constantly steal her, but he also forces her to take his hand in marriage plenty of times. Super Mario Odyssey is the closest for them to tie the knot and it was a thrilling experience to save her once again.

Near the end of the game, we just wonder why Peach could have just not walk down the aisle or try to hide from Bowser. It might be possible that she and Bowser walked down the aisle together, but with the number of wedding guests present, would it be fitting if one of them tried to distract Bowser so Peach could escape?

12 Lacking Backstory

via youtube.com

Sometimes we don’t really question the backstory of video game characters. We know for what they do in the game and who they are as a character. Mario’s is simple since he is an Italian plumber who saves Peach from Bowser. Peach’s backstory is something that we do not really have that much information on.

We don’t really know much about her family or past.

Heck, we got Rosalina’s backstory and that was from the game she debuted in, Super Mario Galaxy. We know that Peach is the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, but we should probably get some more background information about her.

11  Took Her Long Enough

via: sailorbomber.deviantart.com

Super Mario Odyssey is simply a perfect game. Not only was the gameplay, the graphics, and the adventure amazing, but we were surprised to know what happened in the end. If you have not beaten the game, skip on to the next entry.

At the end of the game, when Mario defeated Bowser after “capturing” him, the two of them fought for Peach’s affections. Peach did the unexpected and rejected both of them. Not only did she refused both of them, but she has been traveling independently with Tiara. While we do expect her to get stolen, at least she is having some sort of independence.

10 She Chose Him?!

via: arisencoyote.deviantart.com

Easily one of the things that do not make sense about Peach is her subtle relationship with Luigi. We always associate the princess with Mario since he is the one that saves her and they compliment each other well. However, there is a theory where Peach is possibly Rosalina’s daughter, and, get this: Luigi is the probable father.

If that is not a slap on the face, we don’t know what is.

It just feels weird to pair up Luigi and Peach since while they have interacted numerous times, we just don’t see them being a couple. If we get more backstory on Rosalina, then we might have our questions answered.

9 Too Empathetic

via: zerochan.net

As a princess, Peach has shown qualities of being one such as showing kindness towards others. That also goes to the villains in the Mario series. Sure, she refuses Bowser’s advances, but no matter how many times he has stolen her, Peach does not show any signs of hatred.

She has been shown to get mad or annoyed, but hating someone honestly wouldn’t fit her character. So, in a way, it makes sense as to why she has not shown any hatred towards those who steal her. After all, Mario will be there to rescue her and everything will work out for them in the end.

8 Living Up To Old Tradition

via: themarysue.com

Peach might be a beloved princess and earned a name for herself as the first lady in gaming, but along the way, she has gotten some criticism. Over the past thirty years, Peach has been known for having to be rescued and as a result, she will bake a cake for Mario. Super Mario Run is guilty of this recently.

At least in Super Mario Odyssey, she is breaking that stereotype of gender prejudice.

Even though she has been rescued by Mario, she has been capable of doing things on her own, and if we see more of this version of Peach, then she will steadily become a better character.

7 Is She Oblivious?

via: aminoapps.com

We honestly feel bad for Mario. He has done a lot to risk his life to save Peach and even though she shows gratitude, cake and a kiss that is nowhere on the lips is getting a bit old. Peach does have a lot of responsibility to be the ruler of the mushroom kingdom, but even then, it wouldn’t hurt to have a little bit of romance. Mario clearly has feelings for her, but how does Peach feel about him? She has given him affection from time to time, but we have never seen her reciprocate romantic feelings for Mario.

6 Has The Power, Doesn't Use It

via: coronaditempesta.deviantart.com

This might sound bizarre, but Princess Peach is a very powerful character in the Mario series. She possesses Power Stars and she is capable of wielding magic. Other than Super Smash Bros., Super Princess Peach, and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, how come she is subjected to not use them a lot?

If Peach were to use her powers in all of her might, then people would not say that she is a weak princess who gets stolen all the time. She’s no Zelda, but hopefully, Peach can be shown as a capable, strong, and beautiful princess.

5 Where Did He Come From?

via: supersmashbros.wikia,com

Ever since Super Smash Bros. Melee, Peach has been a playable character and for the most part, she is a capable fighter. With the ability to float and whip out weapons from multiple games, Peach is an interesting character in the beloved franchise. If there is one thing we must question about her, is how she managed to get Toad out of thin air.

It’s like she was trying to pull Toad out from behind.

Whatever the answer is, Peach is capable of possessing magic and she may seem delicate, she is not afraid to kick people’s butts in Smash Bros.

4 Why Not Upgrade?

via: nintendo.wikia.com

Peach’s title in royalty is princess, but if she is the only known person of royalty, how come she hasn’t ascended to queen? The word “princess” is prettier and fits Peach extremely well, but a princess should have the right to become queen. The only way she was to stay princess is if one of her parents are alive.

Apparently, her father is alive but barely seen in the Mario series.

It has been over twenty years since there was any mention of her father. Perhaps Nintendo can make a game where Peach finally becomes queen. Wouldn’t that make her more epic?

via: pinterest.com

One of the most mind-boggling questions we have about Princess Peach would have to be the whereabouts of her family. Peach is the only human who resides in the Mushroom Kingdom, and the rest of the citizens are nonhuman like Toad and Yoshi. It is possible that her parents have passed away, but no other known relative is even mentioned once.

Is it possible that the Toads are related to her?

After all, why are they the ones that reside in the castle? Other than being the guards, there has to be another reason why they live there. Maybe we’ll have the answers about Peach’s ancestry in the near future.

2 Too Emotionally Strong

via: youtube.com

For the first time, Peach got her own starring game called Super Princess Peach and it was a nice change for her to rescue Mario, Luigi, and Toad instead of the other way around. How does she beat the bad guys in that game? Apparently with the power of emotions.

The power of emotions kind of sounds ridiculous, especially since we know that Peach has the ability to glide through the air and whatnot. If Peach were to have powers that had not dealt with emotions, then having abilities from the Super Smash Bros. series would make her more awesome.

1 Always Falling For It

via: youtube.com

If there is one note about Peach that would be on her resume, it is the infinite amount of times she has been stolen by Bowser. Yes, it is the point of a Mario game for her to get stolen and saved, but if she were a princess in our world, she would need to step up her security.

Wouldn’t hurt to have Mario live there just so she can be protected.

While Super Princess Peach does have her doing the rescuing, but that was only one time, unfortunately. Maybe one day we will have a main Mario game where Peach doesn’t get stolen this time that's not sports or party related.
