Mario Strikers Battle League, is the latest game in the Mario Strikers series and the first to launch since 2007's Mario Strikers Supercharged on the Nintendo Wii. Whether players enjoy Mario sports games or just enjoy various soccer-based games, Mario Strikers Battle League is sure to be an excellent choice.

But what about when players feel like they are done with the game but are seeking similar titles to satisfy their itch? Luckily, there have been plenty of games from the past decade capable of doing just that.

8 Rocket League

Rocket League has been around for nearly a decade, and during that time, has received plenty of new cars, modes, and updates throughout its lifespan. Futuristic car soccer may seem like an odd concept at first, but it's astonishing just how well it works, and the game having cross-play as a feature is an excellent addition.

There are also plenty of cameo appearances from famous cars such as the Batmobile, the DeLorean, the Jurassic Park Jeep, and so many more. The Nintendo Switch version even has playable cars based on famous Nintendo characters such as Mario, Luigi, and Samus.

7 Mario Golf Super Rush

The Mario sports game to release right before Battle League, Mario Golf Super Rush, is the Nintendo Switch outing of the Mario Golf series. Similar to Mario Strikers Battle League, Mario Golf Super Rush is more than a regular golf game that happens to feature Mario characters.

While there is a standard golf mode, the highlight of Mario Golf Super Rush is the Speed Golf mode, where players have to chase after their ball as fast as possible between strokes, so they can be the first one to finish each hole. There are also special shots and dashes that can assist players in accomplishing this task.

6 Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020

The latest game in the Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games series is currently the most easily accessible since the digital versions of the two previous games were delisted in 2017.

Like the games before it, Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 introduced several new Olympic events and dream events in addition to new features such as each character wearing appropriate clothing for the event and 2D events based on the 1964 Summer Olympics. The 2D events are also inspired by retro sports games and use older sprites of each participating character, with some being more familiar than others.

5 Ganbare! Super Strikers

The Inazuma Eleven series isn't as easy to access as it once was, especially outside Japan. Luckily, the indie title Ganbare! Super Strikers was inspired by the series and has somewhat similar gameplay.

Ganbare! Super Strikers is a soccer-based strategy RPG. Winning matches allows players to level up and learn new special techniques that can help them out in future games, and equipment can be obtained to boost each player's stats or shield them from different status afflictions. The art style may not be as appealing as the series it's based on, but otherwise, it's a similar enough game to tide fans over.

4 Nintendo Switch Sports

Nintendo Switch Sports may seem like a standalone title, but it's technically part of the Wii Sports series and even includes some of the same sports featured in the first game. In addition to tennis and bowling, likely two of the most popular modes featured in Wii Sports, Nintendo Switch Sports has Chambara, also known as sword fighting, soccer, and volleyball.

While the Joy-Cons of the Nintendo Switch can be used similarly to Wii Remotes, the game also has a leg strap accessory the Joy-Con can be attached to for the Soccer shootout mode, adding an extra layer of physical activity to the gameplay.

3 Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania has various levels and mini-games from Super Monkey Ball Deluxe with plenty of enhanced additions and new features. While the main mode is primarily single-player, the mini-games can be played with friends and are where the game really shines.

Mini-games in Banana Mania include Monkey Baseball, Monkey Bowling, Monkey Golf, Monkey Soccer, Monkey Tennis, and many more, so there are plenty of mini-games to choose from when playing against other people. Banana Mania also has guest characters like Sonic and Tails, Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza, and even Suezo from Monster Rancher, although these characters are only playable in single-player modes.

2 Knockout City

A bunch of Knockout City players in a match

While the Mario crew has never had a full dodgeball-based game of their own, Knockout City comes pretty close to what one could be like. The primary mode of Knockout City has players competing against each other in three on three matches, but red balls aren't the only things players throw at each other.

There are also balls with various effects scattered throughout the arena. Teammates can also use each other as the ball when they're in a pinch, further increasing the ridiculousness factor of the game. Each season has a different theme too, so the arenas change to correspond with that.

1 Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions

Captain Tsubasa Rise of New Champions

Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions, a game based on the Captain Tsubasa manga and anime series, was the first game based on the series to receive a worldwide release since the 1988 game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. However, many don't realize this since it was reskinned into Tecmo Cup outside Japan.

Rise Of New Champions doesn't play quite as smoothly as Mario Strikers: Battle League, but it still provides an enthralling experience and has plenty to offer, including two single-player modes, Episode Tsubasa and Episode New Hero, the latter of which has players create their own character and choose which middle school they represent.
